hey guys im new here, still gotta get on my profile and fill in my info but I am new to the charger scene. Not new to cars n trucks, or forums in general but looking to start a build on either a 69 or 70 charger. I know there are some small differences with the body, front grille area, and rear taillight area, idk if these can be swapped between the 2 years or what but it has been one of my favorite car for most of my life, now that im almost done with college, having my new garage built, n DD truck almost paid off with low miles I figure now is the time. I tried searching but didn't really get very far but I will continue to search. I know the frame and quarters is a hotspot for rust and bad spots, but im just wanting to know how much money im looking for initial purchase price of the car. I know it prolly wont be much of a car at this point, beating up, rusty, etc but whats a fair price for half way decent restore car. Acouple grand or what? thanks for the help, Zach.

vancamp

a couple grand will by a few of the parts for a 69 or 70, realisticly 5-7 grand will get you something youu can haul home that used to resemble a charger

dang prices on these have really got high, novas around me have got high to and hard to find. SO basically im going to need atleast 5 grand just to bring home a junkyard type one that basically needs to have everything redone lol

The 5k cars will also most likely be missing parts. Expensive parts. I'd say 7-10k for something half decent. 2k won't even buy a cordoba anymore and I used to buy those in2001 for less than 100 bucks!

bull

Parts don't swap well between 69 and 70, especially the front clip, but many parts can be swapped between 68 and 69.

I agree with the guys above. A 5k car is typically nothing more than a basic start but about the least you're going to pay for one that's mostly complete and in need of restoration.

Hi Zach: You should consider other B-Bodies, more reasonably priced (either less expensive or more car for the buck). Such as Coronet, Satellite. Then you experiment with the concept you want: stock restoration, pro street, pro tour, retro muscle, driver, dragster, etc. Eventually you make your way to a Charger and the type of car you really want.

You may find that you really want a 64 Polara or 71 Cuda. When I reached age 52 I finally knew that a Hemi Road Runner was what I wanted after all those years.

Welcome to the Mopar world. Dan.
