A restoration dilemma we should all have

And I only think it would be a dilemma for us.  I read where Don Prudhomme has managed to get ahold of Tom McEwens old Dodge hauler that he used to drag his Duster funny car around when they did their Snake vs Mongoose gig.  Now for Prudhomme, restoring the truck is a no brainer because it will match his Snake rig and they will obviously look great together.  For me, and I think some others, the dilemma would be that before McEwewn got the old Dodge it had been the hauler for Sox and Martin.  Apparently there was still a lot of Sox and Martin paperwork with the truck to show this.
Makes for an interesting choice don't you think?

Agreed. But, it can only go one way, and the S vs M truck is just as prominent historically as the S & M.
Gotta pick something... :shruggy:

Gee, what to do, ....what to do. Restore my truck like the Sox and Martin part of it's life or restore it as the Tom McEwen part of it's life.

While this would be a tough choice if it were my truck, it's not. Don will undoubtedly restore it for his intended purpose and make it look like it did when Tom had it.

....and yes, I wish I had such tough decisions to make with my old Dodge. :yesnod:
Speed\'s expensive, how fast do you want to go?

The fact that it'll be promoted with the Snake and Mongoose caravan, Makes it a no brainer

From what I've read, Prudhomme went to a lot of effort to track this old hauler down specifaclly to restore it and match it with the restored Mongoose Duster he already owns. Here are some pics of his hauler he also restored

I agree, but what if you weren't Don Prudhomme and just Bill who stumbled across the hauler, now which version would you pick?

Very cool story. I can't wait to see the finished truck.

Me too.  My understanding is that he has the Duster as well and that he plans to show both rigs together with the cars as they would have appeared in 1970.  :drool5:
