I was just told from the shop doing my machine work on my 383 that the comp cams valve springs #911-16 are for hydrolic cams only and don't have enough pressure for a solid cam. True? I was going to run a XE274S with these springs... :brickwall:

Also, anyone know of some good pistons to get compression in the 10:1 range..heads have been milled .053 and have big valves. Thoughts (other than put a 440 in )

They also said the #911 don't have the right installed height and won't work on my 906 heads. He said he could replace the retainers and keeps and get the 1.90 height needed. UGH

That information is wrong....the 911 springs are a standard replacemt for the stock springs and have 125-130 lbs on the seat and 330-340 lbs open pressure. They are perfect for the XS274S. Not sure what retainers are on your heads now.  :shruggy: Any competent machinst can install them at the correct height with shims if need be.  :yesnod:

As i said in the PM go with the Diamond Racing flattop slugs for this build.  :yesnod:
