I been taking one for about a year or so now to prevent a heart attact as recommended by my doctor. Well, whether you been taking one like me or not, you gotta read this. You might wanna start taking one a day. I saw this yesterday on the local news.

Baby aspirin linked to reduced cancer deaths
http://www.fox6now.com/health/la-he-aspirin-cancer-20101207,0,416052.story

A daily dose of baby aspirin may reduce mortality from a range of common cancers by an average of 21%, with the reduction persisting for at least 20 years, British researchers reported Monday.
Deadly cases of stomach, colorectal and esophageal cancers all declined among people who took low-dose aspirin for 10 to 20 years, according to a study published online in the journal Lancet. The chewable tablets also were linked to a reduced risk of death from adenocarcinoma and from lung cancer in nonsmokers.
The results were based on an analysis of more than 10,000 people who participated in seven clinical trials designed to test whether baby aspirin could reduce the risk of heart disease.

The biggest potential risk of aspirin is gastrointestinal bleeding. Rothwell noted that the normal risk of GI bleeding is about 1 in every 2,000 to 3,000 people a year, and aspirin increases that by about 60%.
"So the increased risk of bleeding is about 1 in 1,000 per year, while the decreased risk of cancer is 2, 3 or 4 per 1,000 per year," he said.

I have for about 15 years now.  Fish oil also.  My blood numbers are all good.  I recommend it, but I recently read you should take it at bedtime instead of in the morning.  No heart issues at 60.  Exercise when you can.

Two people close to me are fighting stomach cancer.  It's not pretty, and I suspect not going to end well for either.

Wow! The first three responders all have yellow Chargers (my '73 is yellow). What does this mean?  :scratchchin:    Is it the aspirin?

I take a Safeway generic, and not Bayer. Perhaps it's a side-effect of the acetylsalicylic acid.... :scratchchin:

I take them when I think about it, which is about once a week at best. I should probably put them right beside my blood pressure medicine, so on the days I remember to take them, I'd take the asprin too.  :whistling:

What Tilar said and that's such an easy way to remember to take one. I'll be putting the aspirin bottle right next to my BP meds.

Stressful times 3 times a week...good times just 2 times a week. Went to Dr. the other day and was asked to check in after my other tests. Going to check brain and heart...guess I didn't have any bad things in the blood check...Dr couldn't believe I didn't take any other meds at initial meeting. Lucky at this point...hopefully stays that way. I do know my blood oxygen rate is 98...not bad! Thought that was my pulse...scared me to death! Celebrating another birthday today so times are good so far!
