wiper motor PN question

I have a 72 charger.  The wiper motor has always been a two speed (my father purchased the car new hence I recall this fact).  The switch is a two speed also.
My issue is that the motor is dead.  The PN on it is 3431624.  Everywhere I search this part number comes up as a 3 speed motor.
The coloring is goldish with the red paint on the body....again, indicative of pictures I see of a 3 speed motor.
Did 2 speeds look like this, also?
Any ideas where I can get another? (ideally without breaking the bank)

Thank you.
Peter

Try NAPA, they will send it out for rebuild, i had one rebuilt last year for $80.

3 and 2 speeds are very diff monsters... 3 speeds is with horizontal armature, goldish finish and 2 speeds are vertical armature, painted black

thanks guys.  Mine is gold as in the picture but I do not have the black cover on the motor- two leads and painted red.
I wonder if it's cause mine is an early 72.

I will ask at NAPA.

Hey Peter, the wiper motor off my 7-71 built 72 is as you describe.

As long as we're on the subject, is that wire that goes to the top terminal supposed to be bare like that?
The used one I purchased is like that also.  :shruggy:

That motor was from my first low-mileage car and as long as I owned it the wires were partially exposed like that.

Thanks for the input.  Last week before I left for my recent travels I bench tested the motor using a process for a 2 speed.  Works like  dream - fast slow and park.  So my horizontal two speed works...just gotta figure out where the gremlin is between the switch and the motor.
