Hey gang..
Where is the settings applications on Windows XP software that determines the applications that "self-launch" when the computer is turned on? For the life of me, I can't find it and I don't like having alot of applications running or open when I have my sessions going......

Thanks..

Which applications? Are these programs you've installed or things that Windows is trying to run? There's a few places to look. If they are installed applications they should have a preference or setting within the software that controls when it loads. Many things like video card drivers, printers, MS Office, Adobe Acrobat, etc. like to sit in the system tray and load in the background for faster starts. These are the things that I kill.

Check Start Menu->All Programs->Startup first to see what's getting loaded manually there.

You can also still use the "MSCONFIG" utility by going to Start->Run then type in MSCONFIG. This has been carried over from Win98 but has been upgraded a bit.

Troy,

These are applications like AOL messenger, MSN messenger, webshots, etc that are located on the bottom right of the desktop on the taskbar next to the clock... I know there are certain applications that need to run regardless, but the previously mentioned ones, I wish to launch when I choice to....

The two places I listed should take care of those. You can probably right click the icons in the task bar to set the preferences for each of the programs too.
