Help with intake manifold

I'm having trouble with identifying a hole and what it is supposed to be connected to.  In the pic, the black circle shows a hole going to the water jacket in the back of the head but it's only on one side.  The hole in the red circle (heater hose) is the same size but closer to the same head.  1)  Why woudn't there be one on the back of the opposing head?  The back water jacket in the passenger side head just comes to a stop at the manifold.  2)  What do i connect the back one to, or just plug it?   3)  Is it just a heater hose option since it's the same size as the fron one??

Thanks for any advice.

I'm not that familiar with smallblocks but if you have a threaded hole going into a waterway it's for a sensor or sending unit. Just install pipe plugs or the appropriate sending unit.  :yesnod:

Thanks Ron,  since there are two sending unit holes (for stock or after marked sensor) up front by the water neck I'm now thinking it could be an option to run a head temp unit as well.   :shruggy:

It's possible that the manifold is set up for EFI applications as well so the need for additional sensors ?

That's an interesting manifold....looks to have dual bolt patterns for LA and Magnum cylinder heads. If that's the case then the extra holes make sense considering this might be used on a later Magnum engine with a computer and throttle body EFI

Correct, this manifold is setup for both Magnum/LA heads so that theory probably hit the nail on the head.  I know absolutely nothing about EFI so would have never thought of that one.   :2thumbs:
