Garage flooring....

I am looking at doing my garage floor.

Probably not willing to do the everything 7 days outside epoxy treatment.

I can find tiles as low as 1.69 sq foot, not sure how good it is.
roll out matting at about same.

I have typical two car garage, about 400plus or so square feet.

Goals are,
something that does not "squish" where heavy stuff sits. Can handle the occaisional oil, power steering fluid, etc. spill,
and you can drag stuff on without scratching everything up.

Bare concrete does the trick except for looks.

What have you guys done?

Cabinetry is pretty much covered by Gladiator self assembled stuff, about the strongest stuff for the price I could find.
Many things leave marks on the diamond plating doors, but structurally pretty tough compared to similar priced stuff.

I used Race Deck tiles on part of my floor.  Got them directly from Race Deck on last years Black Friday sale they had running.  Came out to the cheapest price shipped to my door at the time.
Got enough tiles to do a 18x4 space with a row of edges & some corners.  About $240 shipped to my door at the time

After a year of use its held up fine with no problems.  Have my 2 tier toolbox as well as work benches in the spots with no buckling at all.  Clean up is fairly easy as well (although Im sure if you spill oil it will seep through the cracks to below the tile....easy to pop out a few tiles for clean up if need be though.

I used race deck for a couple years, but it's too hard to keep clean and water and oil accumulate under it.  I just had my floor coated with a polyurea or epoxy product by a professional.  It non-skid, soap and water clean-up and guaranteed ten years against most damage.  It also has electric heating elements eight inches below in a sand bed.  71 degrees this morning.

Floor heat is great wish I had it. Does the coating stand up to floor jacks and jack stands?  My floor is five years old and has oil stains and chinks. Can you apply it to a used floor ?

It's supposed to stand up to floor jacks but the installer recommends masonite or metal pads under jack stands.  No problem yet.  It can be applied over old floors after etching and cleanup.  They fill floor damage and expansion joints so it's seamless.  Mine's only a couple month old but so far I'm thrilled with it.  Its almost nice to lay on the floor if that's the warmest part of the garage.

i used the kit from home depot at my old house, stood up to jackstands just fine but faded in the nevada sun, also i couldn't keep mine shiny like some folks have, cost me about $130 plus my labor.
the floor does have to be clean though, i put mine in after the house was built so the floor had cured but nobody had even walked on it yet, ok, maybe me
any oil left in the concrete will leach to the top and make it lift though

Fairly shiny when new:

Getting dull now.  Really dull where I repeatedly roll through metal shavings on my work chair.

I used Armstrong VCT Tile...available at Lowes or Home Depot for around 0.50 per tile.  It's stood up to some reasonably heavy traffic and it looks good.  I did my entire garage for less than $500.  After 5 years, it was time to get it cleaned really good, so I hired a pro to come in, strip the floor and apply several coats of industrial grade wax for around $400.  Looks good as new.  If you're looking for an inexpensive alternative, I highly recommend it.

looks great from the pics, i never thought of using linoleum (i assume) tile. would of thought that jack stands would rip into it???

Thanks!  You are correct...it is basically linoleum tile set into a pattern.  Applied with mastic.  So far I have not had a problem, but I try to be pretty careful.  I have a few 1' X 1' squares of 1/4" plywood that I made up to go under the jackstands, but there were a few times I put down jackstands on the tile itself and there was no damage done.
