A bit of cool '69 Charger Registry stuff (Show/Press Review Cars)

Received a pretty cool registration the other day.  Car # 107290

Upon checking my database, I also have 107288 registered as well.  Turns out
this car was made exactly like the 107290 car.  (R4/CRX black leather/white stripe (no vinyl roof) loaded RT/SE car

Both car's have a "960" S/O #.  The other car is 960151 (288) & 960153 (290).
The 960 designation can mean either a "Show Car" or a "Press Review" car.
Turns out 107288 was imported to Brazil in 1969 for a diplomat there.  It
still resides there as well.
Since I got this other registration, it seems that there was a block of
these cars built at the St. Louis plant.  Not sure how many but I would ASSUME at least three (#289 possibly?)

Also another cool fact is that these cars "jumped" the production line in
VIN # sequence.  These cars list a Scheduled Production Date of 8/1/68 which
was the first day of production for the '69 model year at both the St. Louis
(G) plant & the Hamtramck (B) plant  (I do have the pre-production promo '69
Charger R/T registered as well which had an SPD of 7/28/69 VIN# 100039 but
we wont count that one)
What I mean by "jumped" is the fact that the first VIN# car at the St. Louis
plant that I have a SPD of 8/2/68 has a VIN # of 101107 which is well below
the 107288 & 107290 VIN #'s

Just a little cool factoid for the masses.   I let the owner's of the cars know my finds so they can add these little tidbits to their cars' "stories"   :2thumbs:

PS----support the registries----YOUR car could have a "story" too

I'm sad to say, my friend who owned it (still in the family with wife and sons) passed away late last year. I know Tim was really looking forward in putting it together. He on more than one occasion asked if I was ready to gather information and get her done...   :'(

I was really looking forward in being part of Charger history in helping restore it.

Hopefully his son's will do something appropriate for the car.....  I'll follow up soon........

Cheers,
Troy

Nope, I think that's who Tim bought it from. It's here in the Greater Houston area now......  I've seen it.. pointy '68 dash pad and all..........  Even the heater controls are the '68 style......

I thought the hemi was only available in a R/T. Didn't think you could a larger engine than a 383 4V in a base Charger.

Shafi is a bit secretive about the car but he did contact me first for some FREE information regarding the car.   Then he PAID Galen  and flew him in for his opinion on the legitimacy of the car....
supposedly put a big report together about it

The car was for sale for 30k back in August as well

FWIW...the earliest 69 STL car I've seen is 100007 and has a SPD of 7/14 (this would be before the last 68 SPD I've seen)

To the best of my knowledge, the STL promo cars and some preproduction cars have the 8/1 SPD. They also have VINs all over the place. There is a series of 69 Coronet R/Ts with 801 SPDs and 960 VONS that fall into the same VIN range as those two Chargers.

Chris, we need to compare 960 VON cars and see how SPDs, VINs and VONs align.

As far as I can tell, regular line production cars start with an SPD of 802. Car 100097 has an SPD of 802.
:Twocents:
Seeking information on '69 St. Louis plant VINs, SPDs and VONs. Buld sheets and tag pictures appreciated. Over 3,000 on file thanks to people like you.
