When I asked for paperwork, I was told there was lots... In reality, there was only a couple sheets of recent paperwork. Nothing essential :popcrn:

Paint looked "heavy" on the car and had some sags and some sort of blob/run near the top of the door and front fender.

It was a very nice car when I saw it at the start of summer. If I were looking for a car which did not need to be correct, that one might have been the one... :drool5: But...

What's wrong on the vin tag?
Looks like it was masked off around it,but the rest looks correct.
Bad fender tag just means you price it accordingly not dismiss it altogether.
How about rad cradle number, easy to check and see if it's match.
Is there a track(broadcast) sheet?

If I recall, the radiator support #s matched the VIN

There is really no paperwork on the car - and it is on consignment.
Without a buildsheet, the fendertag was easily made up from what others posted - not cool  ::)

It is a nice car as a driver, but if you want a legit, no BS car, there are better cars out there...

Just 6T9 CHGR

Life isn't Father Knows Best anymore, it's a kick in the face on a saturday night with a steel toed grip kodiak work boot and a trip to the hospital all bloodied and bashed.....for reconstructive surgery. But, what doesn't kill us, makes us stronger, right?

Looks like a nice car to me  :shruggy:    It's not for the day 1 crowd,  got some nice day 2 bolt-ons and what not.
Probably a nice driver.

So it's got some kind of a made up fender tag ??  And then ??

Could be real nice car for the right price.

O.K., What is the right price?

When I looked at the car in the spring, they had it listed for $50,000 online. When I got to the dealership, the price was dropped to $47,500.

That bronze seems to be a color that photographs well and hides a lot of sins. When I look at a car with the type of paint and body issues mentioned in this case, I ask myself, "how is this car going to look a couple years from now?"  If there are issues readily apparent on top, what do you think lurks below?

As far as price goes, in this case you have to ask yourself how much you'd be willing to risk. If it all holds up, it's probably a bargain at $35K.

Anywhere in the low 40s is fair IMHO.   It's a numbers matching R/T SE ... what's wrong with that?   The reality is that it's at a dealership on consignment,  they're job is to make $$$ off it.  Somebody either built this either on speculation or maybe somebody is now unemployed and it's the car or the house... whatever.

I don't see any major body issues that need to be addressed besides a couple paint flaws being nit picked.

I dont know, she looks pretty nice, not $50K nice but.....
Notice how perfect the Chrysler Corp. lithograph is on the dash vin?  :scratchchin:
Also note the ripples in the passenger quarterpanel lip inside the jamb? Looks just like mine did,
There was a penny (used as a shim?) on the drivers side dutchemen/ quarter seam... :shruggy:
Also, how is it nobody seems to wipe all the extra wax from around the body panel seams???!!??  :slap:

Given we know the fender tag is a fake, maybe the black is a restamp  :popcrn: Once my trust is broken, everything else is suspect  :icon_smile_angry:

UFO

Check the casting date of the block.
Now known that the vin puts the build date around 11-11-68.

Yep, exactly.  That's why I get so worked up whenever someone is just going to change one little meaningless thing on their repop fender tag or if they are going to rebody a car.
It just to easily changes from a slippery slope to a vertical drop on this kind of stuff.
