Hello all

My name is Stein and I live in Norway. I'm a huge fan of the 68-70 Dodge Charger's (and other mid 60's to 70's US made cars). I have just been part of one fraud / scam involving one 1968 Dodge Charger here in Europe.
My lost was approx. $10.000  :RantExplode: Seems like the classic fraud where someone copies one add, make it their own and post in on the internet and sell it several times.
I have of course notified the Police, but doesen't think that my $$ ever will be returned.
So, you can say I'm a little short of $$ right now, but then I found this 1969 Dodge Charger on Craigslist:

http://atlanta.craigslist.org/nat/ctd/2074291607.html

Seller doesen't say "to much" about the car other than it's now a matching no. car (318/383/440?) and that it has been a race car (hopefully not with 318). Price seems to be "right" if its rustfree and "only" need some interior and paint job.

So to my question. This time I want to be safe and hopefully be able to have someone to look at the car for me, and tell me what they think, not only a bunch of stolen photos from the internet.
Is there anyone here at this forum that can call the seller, take a look at the car and shoot some photos of it for me? Any help highly appreciated.

For a living I sell car parts for US made cars here in Norway and our exporter (Uni-Select) is located in Atlanta, GA. Don't think that any one there is into classic american cars, and therefore not able to give me any good information. They're also closed for thanksgiving...... Hopefully they will be able to help out if I close a deal on this car. If there's anyone knowing the Chargers, it must be you guys here at this forum  :2thumbs:

Thanks so far.

Contact Craig Hopkins at the Auto Metal Direct Installation Center. He may charge you to look the car over, but it would be money well spent.

Good luck!

Hello and thanks for the link and info.

Assume that they're closed for Thanksgiving and will not be back at work before monday. I was hoping that someone could check it out during this weekend. If its as good as the seller states (seldom) it might be sold quickly.

I'll get in contact with Craig on monday if necessary.

Hi --- I am curious... With the boatloads of Chargers that are for sale here/CL/EBay, why chose one in that area that doesn't even show the car??  :shruggy: Wouldn't you be better off starting out with something that shows what you'd be going to look at?

That ad just seems like it's lacking a lot of detail...  It's a former drag car, but has Flowmaster Super 44's and a Holley 4bbl??  Good tranny? WHAT IS IT? Car runs great? WHAT IS IT? A few dents??

And this...

Would make a great restore car but too old and dont have the time nor $ tired of watcing it sit there. Please no negotiating price if firm!

I don't know, but my SCAM detector is going off here....

It might be a scam, but thats why I want someone to talk with the seller, see the car in person, shoot some photos and see that all paperwork is valid.

Seems like the seller doesen't have any email so he relies on "personal contact" which is a good thing  :shruggy:

I say check the for sale section on here and wait for someone who posts regularly to put a car up for sale. For one, you will usually know anything that is wrong or done to the car based on a review of their posts, the price will usually be market for the car and they will most likely not screw you since they don't want to burn their bridge with the charger community or lose their hard earned reputation.  :Twocents:

I agree with 68charger383. If I was still looking for a charger I would check here first. That's what I did before my friend called me and said he would sell me his 68 that I bought.
