Well the newspaper did identify it as a rare Dodge. Which it is. :'(

Not many but the one of two quote is what gets me.  They made almost 80,000  RR's in 69 . It was motor trends car of the year and the most ever Road runners sold .

wasn't it the '68 or was that the Cougar?.. or the Grand Prix,.. I forget it's been a while and I'm old.  :-\

Brock Samson

Reading the article again... it says...

"The Road Runner contained inside was very rare because it never had significant remodeling done. Its value was "over $100,000," Centennial Fire Chief Jerry Streich said".
So it was a Survivor I guess maybe a really low mileage original SIX_PACK.   :shruggy:

Remodeling? ::) Did they update the kitchen and bathroom or what?

FYI, it looks like the nitpickers finally got to them. It no longer says Dodge anywhere in the story now. The guy probably lost his job and knew he'd never sell his RR for more than $35k so he torched the place.

With the bad economy and car prices at least 30% less than they were a few years ago, I can't help but wonder how many car fires were helped along by the owner?
This car was sold many years ago to somebody in Wisconsin. I now am retired and living in Florida.

100 grand ?? REALLY!

Every time I hear about a fire in which a "valuable" Mopar is burned up, I wonder how upside down the owner was/ is on the car and did they let the fire get out of control before calling the fire dept?

ChgrSteve67

I wonder if the insurance company will buy that story.
