I have a few friends that are firm believers on Chemtrails.... I just can't get into this conspiracy theory.... because of the diverse and often "opinionated" group on this forum... i figured I would spin the top and see where is sets.

So what's the latest prevailing theory? They're crop-dusting us with a mind-control substance or something to give us cancer or what? I don't really see the logistical probability of commercial airliners being able to carry enough chemical to spray the nation from one end to the other. I also don't see the logic in the government making the public sick when it needs all the payroll taxes it can get its hands on to pay for, among other things, toxic chemicals to spray on the populous.

"If you try to pin these people down and refute things, it's, 'Well, you're just part of the conspiracy,' " says atmospheric scientist Patrick Minnis of NASA's Langley Research Center in Hampton, Va. "Logic is not exactly a real selling point for most of them." http://www.usatoday.com/weather/resources/basics/2001-03-07-contrails.htm#more

that's just about my standing Bull... I don't believe it's chemicals..... just ice from hot engines.... but. I do enjoy a good discussion ;-)

"Opinionated group" on our forum? No way! hahahaha

One theory I've heard that sounds plausible is that under certain unique atmospheric conditions, at the altitude these aircraft fly, the vapour trials don't dissipate as they normally would and you end up with a crisscross pattern from several planes transiting the same general airspace over time.

Run On sentences anyone?
FLY NAVY/Marine Corps or take the bus!

This is one of those rare conspiracies that takes a simple thing and turns it into a complex, overblown explanation. As opposed to most, which take a complex issue and find a simplistic explanation.

I have heard of several government conspiracy theories, e.g.; FDR knew the Japanese was going to attack, the government killed Kennedy,  Dick Cheney blew up the World Trade Center,  George Bush blew up the levies in New Orleans, but I have never heard of this one.

What about the Bilderberg Group, the faked moon landing, black helicopters, One World Government, Area 51, the Illuminati, The Council on Foreign relations, The Protocols of the Elders of Zion, the earthquake/space shuttle connection, the Satanic Shadowy Elite, the Federal Reserve, Bohemian Grove, and the shape shifting lizards?

I almost forgot about the Trilateral Commission, the Freemasons, Skull & Bones, Peak Oil, Stop Light Cameras, InDemand TV, Elvis's faked death, and of course, fluoridation as a way to control our precious bodily fluids.

I prefer the conspiracy theories.  Believing something sinister about chemtrails is much more fun than the probable boring truth.

Same with Rush Limbaugh.

Had to save my parents from that one a few years back.

Conspiracy theories are for those too slow and lazy to actually seek facts.

Forwarded emails are a great source of "news" for lots of people. Especially older people it seems. Whatever comes into my mom's inbox she seems to think is true. What's funny is I'll send her a snopes link that debunks it (whatever "it" is) and then the confusion starts. Somehow it doesn't seem crazy to her the story about people in Walmart parking lots walking around asking you to smell some "perfume" that causes you to pass out but when I tell her it's BS with a snopes link she becomes suspicious of snopes. :slap:

what's to discuss???  Especially something scientific on a car on a web board in a serious fashion...

No one wants to hear the truth because most people are afraid of the truth

People don't like it when you rattle their brainwashed uniformed opinions.

So go ahead make jokes about things that perhaps should be looked at a bit more seriously.

In other words, the morons believe it's the conspirators fault that they're sick and broke and have to take tons of prescription meds every day. But, sir, what about your two pack a day smoking habit and the fact that you're 100 lbs overweight from overeating and that you never exercise and you're stressed and have high blood pressure because you spend twice what you earn on giant TVs and cable and three car payments? Is that someone else's fault too?
