I am curious to know how Favre burned bridges in Wisconsin?   It's always interesting to hear what the Packer fans think of Favre now.  I am from Minnesota and the media has made it seem as if he was almost forced into retirement by the Packers.    You can't blame the guy for wanting to play even though the Packers didn't want him.  I think its pretty pathetic that he gets boo'ed by some of the Packer fans just because he doesn't play with them anymore.   They should probably appreciate everything he did for them for so many years....even the interceptions. ;)

Farve is, "like" what ...Joe Montana was to Kansas City. A dying legacy.

I think the GM and headcoach at Green Bay were tired of Farve and the I'm going to retire, then not retire saga the last couple years. Whether they admit it or not that did get old. That last cold playoff game against the Giants in Green Bay was the end of the line for Farve. I think he was pretty down after that game and might have thought it was the last chance for him. He kept saying that he was mentally wore out. I don't think he was really ready when he made the official retirement speech, but that was the green light for the team to go with Rodgers as the quarterback. Most fans didn't really want Farve to retire and it was not a popular decision to not bring him back when he wanted to.  As it turned out, the decision to go with Aaron Rodgers has been a good move for Green Bay and that has made it much easier for fans to move on. If Green Bay were not winning you can bet that fans would still be screaming for Farve.

The unfortunate part, and what has turned some fans against Farve, was the move to the Vikings. Whether he intentionally went there to get the chance stick it to the Packers or win a Super Bowl is almost irrelevant. There are always two sides to every story and we don't know all the details that went into his original retirement decision at Green Bay. The one thing I am pretty sure of is that he never had any bad feelings for the fans but was mad at the Green Bay leadership and enjoyed showing them a thing or two last year. He really should have retired at the end of last season because that was quite a good show he put on until that last throw. Live by the gun, die by the gun. ;)

that was a poor choice of words. but it is a bad situation all the way around.  ted thompson started it  by letting  farve go.  favre would not have liked to be backup qb. if he got traded the fans would have killed thompson. it was a danged if you do situation. favre has been around the league so long that he was getting predictible and thus getting intercepted alot. plus he was always trying to force a big play. he kind of got that under control a little in new york  but it came back a bit in minnesota. i do think he was looking for one bowl win so he could finish on top.  i think he thought that was in minnesota. sure there is a rivalry with the vikings  but that is the same as anybody else in the division. you want win your division first.  i dont blame favre for wanting to stick it to the packers. you just wont see him at any alumni games

I wonder if he will retire as a Packer?   :popcrn:
