Quarter Panels

Has any one got any ideas on what I can do??

My Charger had a vinyl roof at some stage and has badly rusted out (needs a new roof skin). When I got it home and investigated further, the rear passenger side quarter panel has badly rusted out where the vinyl stopped (just below the roof skin join). The toughest part is the rest of the quarters are rock solid (not even a rust bubble). I do not need to buy an entire panel, but they do not sell these sections as patch panels (or do they?). Do I go to a body shop to see if they can fabricate something or does any body here know of a trashed rear quarter ready for the scrap heap that has this section in reasonable condition?

Maybe you buy the qtr from AMD, cut off what you need and try to sell off the lower portion.

I doubt folks are very careful cutting that out when they do a qtr replacement, but you never know.

That's a pretty good idea. There are plenty of cars that need lower patches or skins.

OP, if you want a good deal on AMD, let me know, I'll hook you up

That section is usually in pretty good shape. Your best bet is to find someone doing a full quarter replacement and have them save that part of the original quarter for you OR find someone who only used the lower half of a full AMD quarter (that's how I got my sail panel patches). It's not that complicated of a bend though so a decent metal fabricator could probably make it from scratch.

Sarcasm detector, that's a real good invention.

Thanks guys! Great ideas.

Only problem is the shipping of a full quarter to Australia would be expensive and I doubt anyone in the States would want to pay for shipping from Australia to buy back the lower section. All I can hope for is if someone has already cut this section away and is willing to sell it (if they haven't already disposed of it)

the easiest way is going to be to cut out that section, patch it as close as you can then lead it in....

Make your own piece.  LEON.

heres the pics i have of the parts.  They came off my 70 when i replaced the quarters.  I honestly have no use for it any more, so you can just have it for what ever shipping costs and say five dollars for for tape.  Just let me know -Ray

If you check out my thread you'll see that I've used a patch similar to what you wanted. It worked out great.
