I just got this done & wondered what you all think of this maintance step? One thing I noticed right away was the force of the air was much greater. Plastic vent and the scoop has magnets so before it would lay on the vent but now blows off.

I don't think that it does anything. Nothing health wise and nothing mechanical wise, other than make the cleaners some money.  There would have to be a tremendous amount of dirt in there to have any effect on air flow.  And where did the dust come from?  I believe that this is one of those things like black mold that is sold to homeowners in order to create a new business.  That is just my opinion and I could be wrong about it -- I think I will do some research.  Check out my hemi at http://www.marlia.com.  Kim

I neglected mine for a while and the restriction of airflow killed the blower motor. After i changed it I saw the main air intake was really dusty. While it ran I wiped it and it looked like lint from a lint trap and the air was whistling around the gap. So i cleaned it all and had a company clean the rest and the output is amazing.
