Or, if the Palin-haters were as enlightened and politically correct as they believe they are she wouldn't be the butt of jokes.

So, Palin-haters are automatically PC? Typical uninformed ASSumption.

QuoteBesides, you seem to think "right-wing religious extremists" spend all their waking hours with a moral choke-hold on their children so how was Bristol ever able to make her own decisions regarding sex?

It's not about "waking hours" it's about those hours that the parents aren't present; "while the cat is away........"

You're arguing with a guy who spent many years in a Parochial school where I learned 99% of the cuss words I would ever know, witnessed my first sexual act (fifth grade) and smoked my first cigar (also fifth grade). A stringent moral environment is no quarantee of anything, best too assume the kids will do "what comes naturally" and prepare them for it; "just say no" has never worked.
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.

As for the Palins, I fail to see what other people's political opinions of Sarah have to do with Bristol getting pregnant.

RECIPE FOR IRONY:

Take one politician who preaches morality/family values and add one daughter knocked-up out of wedlock.
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.

You forgot to address "enlightened" in your mini diatribe. You know, those pious know-it-alls who are so much smarter than the religious minions. Present company excluded of course, since there's not an arrogant bone in your body. :D

Were you one of those problem children parents send to Parochial schools when all else has failed? Half the kids at the Parochial schools are one step away from juvi and the parents expect miracles just because morals are taught. Teaching and learning don't always go hand-in-hand in case you were unclear on that. The resident anti-theist here should know that better than anyone.

My, my, I was one of the "good" kids in Catholic school, altar boy every Sunday speaking (actually parroting) Latin in the Mass,, teaching catechism to the heathens who went to public school, questioning religion all along until I finally realized there was no little friend I could whisper to hoping for results.  So off I went to a Catholic law school to be blessed with the tools to tie believers up in knots for their religious based beliefs.  Praise the lord.  Kim

To sum It up: I CHOSE TO HAVE THESE KIDS, THEIR MINE, AND I'LL BE DAMNED IF SOMEONE IS GOING TO TELL ME HOW TO RAISE THEM! Mrs.skip68

Then send your kids to either a private school or home school.  So long as the state is paying for it, the state has the right to insist on what is in the best interest interest of the child and it considers this to be in their best interest (check out "in loco parentis").  Besides, private schools are usually better.  Invest in your kid's future.  Kim

And who's paying the state taxes???? We are!!!

Like I said, teaching and learning don't always go hand-in-hand.
