$300 for the gas cap and $1,000 for the box.

Repro worked fine for me 100.00 with ring.  :2thumbs:
This car was sold many years ago to somebody in Wisconsin. I now am retired and living in Florida.

Never heard of this -special flip top for in the tube locking cap-I'll have to look in the parts book.
I have a repo cap with a nos(used to be) lock that fits underneath just fine.

Absolutely. And the repro looked 500 x nicer than my old cap and ring.
The other $1200 could be put to much better use.
Gotta love a '69

I'm guessing that only someone with a "special" car would pay an insane price like that.
Notice he didn't say if you got a 318 base model.......

I think the Barracuda's have an inner screw on separate cap under the flip lid to prevent this.....

Mitchell's must be feeling pressure from the economy, that seems pretty cheap for one of his parts.

Yes totally different mounting as well because they definitely have an inner manual screw on cap for sure.

I did find this pic on my PC that I had labeled as a "locking lid"

As far as the b body caps go, my 69 came with the locking gas cap option and I still have the factory flop top cap in place. It is no different than the non-locking cap cars. I looked at this as someday I want to get a nice cap for it and wanted to be 100% sure there was no internal differences.

The Challenger one opens the other direction as well.  Doesn't the 67 GTX also have the same one as the 68 Charger?
