1970 Rear shoulder seat belts for B-Body

Loks like they made it to e-bay.  Maybe a good sign for you.  Bid what you feel they are worth to you and you might just get them.  

I really like your charger and it must be one of the most loaded cars out there.  Weather you ever sell it or not, I would have to think the value of your car would increase enough to cover the cost of those.  How cool would it be if you could say not only is it loaded but it has every option listed for it.  Also, if you eve rdo decide to sell, collectors are always more interested in cars with odd ball options but usually only if they come with the car.  I would think it would be almost impossible to find these later if you decide to bite the bullet.

Thanks for the link rarebird. Different buckles for sure.
That is exactly what I have been thinking. May have come out of a Chrysler product 25+ years ago but may not be original belts. I didn't want to spend ridiculous money on something that wasn't even going to be 1970 correct if I can just make my own.

yeah the dates  , but that was when they were made  ,  deffo not 70 or 69 or even 68

would walk away  if it were me  ,     better off making some !!  true not the original part , but least they will look as they should !

Actually I was being a little bit facetious there.  It's a date code and a part number.  Obviously they aren't the correct style buckles on there but you would be able to find out the application if the seller answered any questions about the info on the labels.

The ebay auction looks nothing like these '69's.  

I'm restoring a 1969 Charger R/T with this option. There are 16 belts in all (10 in the rear and 6 in the front). The rear shoulder belts were improved in 1969 because the shoulder belt snapped on to itself and would drape down over the back seat. This kept the "barbell" in place and kept it from sliding out of it's pocket.

Perhaps the shoulder belt set up are black to keep from mixing up with the others'.  But what about when the interior is black/charcoal like above?

Just got this back from the seller of the belts when I asked the part #'s on the tags.....

All 4 belts have the same tag on them.


I have been told the following: In 1969 & 70, there was a single part number kit number for the set. In 1971, the parts were broken down by individual numbers.
Also, in 71, the new B body restyle dictated a different part number belt. (Longer because of the higher rear deck) The numbers on this belt were still used on other models.
These appear to be the optional, upgraded "Deluxe" belt, available for 1970. So, in addition to being rare in itself, these are a a step up from that.
A "C14" coded car would most likely have all "Deluxe" belts. If you have a C14 coded car and regular belts, they may have been switched to 'base'
in the last 40 years, thinking that was correct. With a 2nd quarter of 1969 manufactured date, these were probably on an early ordered executive lease, or pilot car, built in July of 1969.

When I saw those I was thinking they were the deluxe belts too.  They look legit to me.

Since the regular buckles are plentiful, it would be a no brainer to replace the 1970 only 'deluxe' style buckles. The unique attachment hardware and grommets through the rear shelve would be correct.  Only you would know....      Also, you could sell the rare 'deluxe' buckles on ebay and get $$$ back.

Thought about that too but for what he wants for them now. I may just make my own. It would be another good winter project gathering all of the parts to make. Crazy what this stuff cost these days. Kills me what my missing/broken 6 way driver seat track is going for too.

Nope not the seller, just trying to help the guy make some sence out of the deal.  He's got an awesome car missing one thing that would complete it and he will probably never find another set.  I totally understand the worry about getting the right stuff but it has been shown they are correct, just the deluxe buckels.  I'm not sure what your original offer was on these, but they are only bid to around $250.00 right now which seems very reasonable. It is a no reserve auction too.  I was thinking of bidding on them too, but considering they are not original to my car I don't see bidding much more then they are now.  I can't believe they aren't worth more but they guy is letting the market decide right now.

I doubt you'll see them repopped.  Just too rare to make it viable IMO but you might turn up a set cheaper somewhere else.  (but you might not either  )

Seeing what they just went for. Knowing that they are rare. Safety laws may require these in our cars eventually. Somebody will hopefully look into anyway. Seeing that a couple of guys had made their own that look very similar. I don't think it will be to bad to duplicate. Just have to round up some extra belts & gather the other parts to try to make it look as factory as possible.
