Is it typical for the crank pulley to be in too far to match water pump pulley?

This is on a 68 383. My crank pulley is a hair off from matching up with the water pump pulley and it looks as if I could fix it by using thin washers to space it outward. Anyway, is this common?

I had the opposite.  Had to space out the water pump pulley.  440 source has them for either pulley.

I would imagine with all the aftermarket cranks and v-dampeners it's not an unusual occurance.

Only if you don't have the original pulley's.

It's probably the aftermarket balancer. My original had a chunk broke off the flange so I bought a new one.
