68 Dodge Charger Advice

I currently have a 73 440, that's really clean and have the opportunity to make a 6k profit if I sell my charger.  Additionally I found a 68 charger with NO engine, transmission, windshield, dash, inside stripped, significant rust in trunk, minor rust in floor boards, and minor rust in both rear quarters, for $2500.  What are your thoughts?  I haven't dealt with with 68,69,70 before and don't know if funding the 68 from the profit from the 73 would be worth it. Any Advice would be greatly appreciated, and for the record 68 is my favorite year charger, that's the only reason I am even considering it.

Cheers,

If there's no dash where is the VIN? I think 68 is the best year of course but you'll easily spend twice what you're making in profit from the other car to get the 68 on the road. It sounds like a big project. The upper door pads, seats, and Rally dash could easily set you back nearly $3k depending on condition.

Sarcasm detector, that's a real good invention.

Ghoste

The 68 sounds pretty daunting to me.

:iagree: with Troy and Ghoste. You would be better off getting a more whole 2nd gen. You'll save a bunch of money. And get a '68 if at all possible.  :D

So, no VIN?  :scratchchin:

I would suggest saving up and at least finding something that's not as bad unless you have the funds to dedicate to a big project. something running, not toooooo rusty, not too much damage from previous, half-assed "body" and "mechanical" work.

$2,500 is tooooo much for that car in my opinion...

The little parts that will be needed to finish it will kill you. Spend more on a complete car that has all of the trim and interior parts. You may have to spend more up front but you will be on the road a lot sooner and the finished project will cost less in the long run.

appreciate everyones feedback, I think I'll take a pass on this one and hold onto the 73, maybe I'll find a decent starter 68 eventually.

Thanks all,

Don't give up looking! Now is the time to buy. I have seen several complete cars go for under $6k
