Installing bumper and bumperetts on a 69, what do the bumperetts attach to after they go threw the holes in the front valance. Does anyone have a pic of this install

As far as I'm aware once they go through the valance they bolt onto this piece....I'm not sure of much else though, I don't have front bumperettes on my '69 :shruggy:

:iagree: That cross member is needed to bolt in the bottom of the bumperettes.
68 Charger, slowly in the works, 451 c.i. approx. 535 hp @ the flywheel, so far best time in the 1/4
11.21 @ 119 mph, full exhaust, stock suspension, 4:10s @ 3640 pounds.

Thank You that helps, now if someone could tell me what these are called and who has them so I can get one on order. Checked Year One book and can't find one in there or I'm looking in the wrong sections.

Thank You, another question, does this bolt to the bottom or does it go inside the valance. The valance has a support that bolts to the center support for the grill, and that looks like it mite be in the way. Did all Chargers come with the bumberetts, I've seen pics without them.

I believe bumperetts were a trim package upgrade?.........anyone? This long bar bolts to the bumper brackets on top of them. The recessed areas on this bar must face up, this is why there are small drain holes in each. This bar will not interfer with the valance support. I just re-installed all this stuff on my 69 and the sequence is: attache grille assembly first then the bumper mounting brackets with the bumper already attached and finally the valance. I discovered 2 things that really helped me. While trying to figure out how to put the bumper assembly back on without help, I set the bumper/arms on a moving blanket below where its going to mount up. Then I tilted the bumper brackets up and carefully postioned them on the frame. I threaded the backmost bolts on each side and then just tilted the whole assembly up and into postion threading the front bolts on each side. I checked for fitment and torgued the bolts down. The valance is far easier to re-attache with some help. Leave the turn signal lights out and begin threading all the bolts once in position -  there is one bolt on each side at the top corner of the valance that will cause you some fits getting them threaded. It was a bitch getting my arms through the holes in the valance but I got it done. Good luck and let us how it went.

2 of mine 69-er did hav'em, 1 didn't
My 68 didn have it, planning to put them on think it looks way nicer..

Readed the classic trader, there was a red 69 Charger R/T in it and it had weird looking bumperettes, didn't see them before.
Can't find the mag anymore, but they looked like mopar performance valve covers.......

Anyway good luck in putting them on.

they were on all chargers, some like mine were taller... that seems to be a late vendor supply issue...

They where? I believe it straight away...
hmm strange...mine 68 haven't got holes on the bumper itself to fit them on. (but my grill was replaced from 68 to 69 style)
Saw one 68 on a show which hasn't got them, didn't check if they were removed.
Why do people remove them, looks nicer with?
Thanks for the info.....I still learn every day...

it's funny that it's been so long since i did mine, and it took two years before I found the original tall style for my car..
