I know at one time there was some debate as to the actual number of 440 Six Pack Chargers made in 1970.  Has that issue been settled and there is an accepted production number now?

nascarxx29

My friend has a original Super Trac Pac FC7 4 speed RT SE V code car .Total belelive was 116.Then trans types broke it down. But never could narrow down the # SE s made

That doesn't jive with any of the other numbers I've been told or seen printed.  :-\  So I can maybe assume there is still no concensus on it?

Ive only heard # around 116 and 159 and less :Twocents:

The 684 number jives with GG's number and the fact that the 70 Registry has it up as that puts my faith in that total then.  Like I said, I had heard so many different amounts over time that I just wasn't sure.

I got a buildsheet for a white 4spd one. I gave Galen a Xerox copy and sent a copy to The 1970 Charger registry.I still have the original. And this car has never been verified alive or dead.

The 684 number is directly from the Chrysler SG-30 sales reports for 1970. This is the same source used by both the 70 Charger Registry and Govier. Until the Registry can document all 684 we'll never know for sure.

I don't know where those two sites gathered their numbers from, I will say that it is the first time I recall hearing the 116 number.  As I said, I've been told or read of a few different stats over the years and all of them lower than the 684 but 116 is a new one to me.

They would both be lumped into that total already.

WOW! My six pack is off a early production 70 GTX. (still aluminum intake) Are there numbers on the carbs to check for exact dates?  :scratchchin: (I met the previous owner and got the story of the cars demise.   :rotz:  )

Ghoste

There should be a 4 digit code stamped on them.  The first three numbers tell what consecutive day of the year they were made and the fourth number indicates what year it was.

Don't confuse the date codes with the list numbers that were just posted Neal.  It will be a number that looks something like say, 2170, which would translate as being the 217th day of the year 1970.

On the center carb top of the right barrel rear (throat?) is clearly stamped: 1229 below that is: LIST-4392   :2thumbs: (Sorry not wanting to hijack) My intent is/was to "match" that base package, so this is VERY interesting for me! Now back to the show!

Oh I've run it for 15 years MOL. (6 or so years the whole car just sat stored) I have the center carb off, replaced with a Holley re-man (with the vent tube on top) one. I thought I had a problem internally with my list-4392, turned out the wrong gasket was used for the base to intake. The carbs and intake are all off that GTX and all that is left of that poor car. It has run and still runs super! Only thing left to "match" is the build on the 727, I have a 145K TC and am looking for details on how they were set up internally for six pack cars. Thanks! (I even have the correct spacers that go under the LCA rubber bumpers!)

684 or 116, I still want one! I passed on an ultra rusty orange V code many moons ago. I can't really regret that one as it was one of the rustiest cars I'd looked at.

Dodge Don

Just to kill the 116 debate once and for all....out of the over 2,600 70 Chargers registered the 70 Charger Registry has 131 V codes registered so far.

hemi68charger

The 116 number originated a long time ago, about '86-'88.... MuscleCar Review magazine did an article on the '70 Charger R/T v-codes. I remember eating lunch ('84/'85) with Paul Zazzerine(sp) who was a chief editor for the magazine then I believe. We talked about Hemi-id'ing, mopars, etc(he's a Pontiac-guy).. The 116 number came from the R/T SE total production. It later came to light that is was the 684. I remember thinking to myself back then I had 1 of 116.. But, then I found out soon after, the higher number (which actually makes much more sense).
