It's official as of today - although it's also still possible someone could step in and purchase the track/facility.  This would have a direct impact on the Mopar scene because of the Monster Mopar Weekend and annual Wing Car event.  I've started some inquiries about alternate MMW event locations, but it may take a while for more concrete information to develop.

Sad to hear this happened.  :'(

A nostalgia racer mentioned it to me back in August but I hoped he was wrong.

It's sad to see any motorsports facility close since it's so hard to open a new one in this era but that one certainly hurts the Mopar community in particular.

So is this the race track in St. Louis or the race track in Dover, DE that they are closing??

I was at a show this weekend that was a fund raiser for the new Mid-America raceway.  Nice show!  I talked to a guy working there who said he was in charge of the drag racing portion of monster Mopar.  He said any news would be pure speculation.  He said they had until late Feruary to make the call.  He said they may even take a year off :brickwall:.   This is the first time I ever met the guy, but he sure seemed to know what he was talking about :shruggy:

Really for this event they only need the drag strip and alot of space for a huge show and swap .  The oval was just a bonus at Monster Mopar.  But for sure the drag racing was the main event !!!!!

I agree, The show can be just as big without the oval, but it sure was fun driving the Daytona on it :2thumbs:

I vote for Topeka KS  :Twocents:

IMO, any further west and you'll lose participation in droves

"GO West young man".  You can't get more "midwest" than Topeka...It makes it fair and Neutral grounds for everyone...Folks living up north would (MN) would come on down for sure. !!
