First Plymouth, then Mercury, now Pontiac. That's right, after 84 years they're calling it quits. Even being a true Mopar fan, I still hate to see another once legendary name die.

Yeah, That's what I was thinking. Saturn isnt a big loss IMO, The last Lincoln that I liked was the late 70's body style.

I bought this one with 59k miles on it, put another 100k on it and then sold it to the daughter of the woman I bought the car from for $100 less than what I paid for it.

God must love stupid people; He made so many.

The death of Pontiac was announced around the same time Obama bought GM but I think they kept the dealerships around for something like a year after.  Sad to see it go and surprising too in some ways.  Apparently badge engineering just makes for short term profitability.

It was already official shut down??  It says GMs agreements with dealerships just ended.

here's the article dated Oct 31, 2010.

Yes, the official contract ended October 31st. at midnight.  Some just seem surprised because this was announced two years ago this was happening.

Old news as stated, but I think people will be more apt to pay for that rebuilt motor\trans to keep what they like on the road with even fewer choices for a new car.

It's interesting about how much was made of Olds closing not that long ago.  While the passing of Plymouth, Pontiac and Lincoln is very quiet.

I see I'm not the only one with a BIG Pont here. After MOPAR Pont would be next in line I hate to see them go. She made the rear cover of Collectable Automobile mag a few years back. I heard part of GM's outlook is that BUICK is now getting very popular in China! (not to mention the obvious bowtie thing). Hate to see it go!
