Can I use a 66 727 tranny in my 68 Charger?

I got the tranny for free from a guy.  I checked the serial number using the info in the transmission thread and it says it's from a 1966 Imperial.  The number was 2635383.  Any reason I can't use it in my 68 Charger with a 383?  It seems to fit right and all.  Thanks!

Awesome - thanks!  Especially since we already put it in...That would have been a pain.

I hope you had the right converter.I put a 66 727 in my car with a 69 converter and it fits but the shafts are smaller so when I put it in gear it didnt go.I pulled it out and there was no damage.I figured it out changed to a 66 converter and it worked fine.  :Twocents:

1969 GTO 400 Ram air III 4 speed
1972 Charger (soon 5.7 hemi auto)

If you've never been scared (even a little) then you've never gone as fast as you could have!

Thanks for the tip.  I got the torque converter with the tranny and everything seems to fit right.
