97 dodge avenger after market or different transmission?

Well i cant really find any info on this topic. Ive learned alot about old cars and im trying to learn more about new ones. Im looking at a 97 avenger and i know the transmissions suck. So i know you can get a different kind of trans for old chargers but im really not sure about the 90s cars. I know all new cars you cant do this. Which is stupid but whatever.


So is this possible? Could i get a new better trans for it? Or maybe a rebuild kit to make the trans better? Also this is for research because i need a first car and i like the look and feel of the 97 avenger and well... V6 plus winter driving and stuff so yea. Cheap niceish car. So any help would be cool.

Also if you know where i can get some cheap deals on avenger viper body kits would be cool. Ive found one place but i dont like the rear spoiler. Looks like a ricer burners type or spoiler on the avenger. I have found every thing but a good spoiler.
