I just picked up a 74 dodge club cab pick up 3/4 ton 400 2bbl auto, and it doesnt seem to want to start until I am letting go of the key. it turns over easy but wont start and run until the key is slighty backed off. I have to let off from the start positin slow and then it seems to start and run.
Anyone know what this problem is??  Im thinking just a worn ignition switch but thought I would ask before spending any money.

Sounds like its your ballast resistor, the white ceramic piece on the fire wall. You could jump it with a wire to make sure.

When I got it the balast resistor was just hanging, after I bolted it to the inner fender all the starting problems seem to have stopped. Wont trust it until I drive close to home for awhile. I can always use the engine and trans for a friends 64 valiant, and modify the dana 60 for my Daytona project.

I have this same problem with my Charger. Did you figure out if it was indeed the ballast resistor?  The Charger has 2 though, I will check the service manual when I get home, but any insight is appreciated. Thanks, Len.
