Help my pic's are in mb not kb -I crop them and still not small enuf   --I have posted some pic's here and there still can't post my car pic !!!???

Easiest way is get yourself a Photobucket account, then all you have to do is link to the photo's. Simple & easy!

Just to add, what software are you using to edit your images?

The files are too big, so you need shrink them - but it also helps to save them in a lesser quality. When you "save as...", you might get the option of what quality to save them. If you do, select a lower one, and you will see the kb change. Also, try looking through your programs menus etc, as their may be a "save for web" option. This will save an image optimized for the internet - will still be decent quality, but a much lower kb rate to assist in uploading & viewing online.

1 choose picture , in the normal way
2 click arrow to custom size
3 type in 600 width &  click on arrow & change persentage to pixels
then just click on i'm done at the bottom of the page
then just save the resized picture in any file you want !!
there are prolly lots of better or easier ways  !! but  this way works for me !

If you're pictures are in MB then they are likely poster size (see chart below). There are 2 "sizes" for a picture - file size and display size. File size is important for storage and transferring across a network while the display size is important for viewing. They are sort of dependent on each other. You can reduce the quality/resolution of the display to shrink the file size a little since less information needs to be saved - at the expense of losing detail of course!

The display size will be in pixels (the little tiny dots on your screen) and the "web" runs on 72 pixels per inch. So, an 800x600 image theoretically is 11.1" x 8.3" (family portrait size). However, since people can change their monitor sizes this conversion doesn't always apply to everyone on the planet. I use this example because if you "resize" a jpg image to 800x600 pixels with 80% quality you'll be very close (and almost never over) 200 kb file size.

Here are some specifications from a typical digital camera (megapixels then resolution then display size):
1 = 1280x960 = 17.7"x13.3" (approximately the resolution of a standard 19" monitor)
3 = 2048x1536 = 28.4"x21.3"
5 = 2592x1944 = 36"x27"
7 = 3072x2304 = 42.6"x32" (1.8 MB standard or 3.7 MB "fine" quality)

See what I mean about poster size! Since a 17" monitor is "standard" for most computers, web sites typically have to fit within a 1024x768 "window". It really doesn't make much sense to try to display pictures any bigger than what will fit in that space because it causes nearly everyone looking at the site to have to scroll (sideways and down). In relation to file size, this website has over 30 GB of pictures uploaded to it. If we didn't limit the size that number would be 10-30 times larger.

I use an application called IrfanView. It is free, simple, works great, and it will do "bulk" (or "batch") resizing operations. Just load all your pictures into a folder, create a folder to hold the resized pictures, point IrfanView to the folders and set the size and it's done in a jiffy. Now you've got a complete "mini-me" directory of everything that you can upload here.
