My stupid ricer question of the day

I just came back from a quick run to the grocery store and while there I spotted a Honda all done up in the cool look of the day.  There was one very noticeable addition that I've never seen before.  Sticking out of the back exactly where a trailer hitch would be was a steel ring.  It was sticking out about six inches or so and the ring portion was maybe 2 or 3 inches in diameter.  The ring was poistioned vertically so that it was visible when looking the car in side profile but viewed from behind or above it would have just looked like a piece of rod sticking out of the back of the car.  The steel rod used to make this contraption was about a half inch in diameter.
What is it and why is it cool?

it's the grenade pin...pull it and 5 seconds later to car explodes

Ghoste

See now I thought that device was located under the far right foot pedal in front of the driver.  Had I known it was back there I would've yanked it out on my way past.

TexasStroker

Hard to say without seeing it.  If it is a dynoqueen or trailer rider it might just be for strapping the car down...The faux hold down is kind of like the guy that bolted on some conduit wheelie bars. The average pereson wouldn't know they were not the real deal (when done right, or as right as that sort of thing can be done) and that would make most folks think his car was a big deal.  Granted to the other 10% you have hysterical laughter, but you get the idea.

Next time you see it double check the grenade pin theory, lol.

Nea, you got it wrong, when the pin is yanked the car will fall apart..  :D

But best thing to do is when the pin is yanked is still RUN!

another option is it could be for a tow rope to connect to or when flatbed tow truck arrives so they have something to hook onto because of the front & rear ground effects.

could be to chain  the car to a tree to do a burn out!!  seen two ricers chained  togeather once !!!  pulling against each other spinning the tires !! who knows what these ricer mobs get up to  :yesnod:

prolly something as simple as a perminant tow eye , for the tow truck  , when these   nagasaki nut bucket  motors keep  grenading :yesnod:

im pretty sure its a racing tie down for a race trailer.....ultimately it's only good for poser points, unless the car it's on is actually in a race trailer....then it might be something worth driving atleast once......
Remember the average response time to a 911 call is over 4 minutes.

The average response time of a 357 magnum is 1400 FPS.

I went to a drifting event with a guy from work who is into imports.  Most of the cars had this ring in some sort of configuration.  Most all also had a sticker near it, 'tow', and some had an arrow pointing to the ring.  It seems it is for when these cars break down as some have stated.  I supposed if one of those cars would have broken down on the drifting course the tow truck operator could quickly connect to this ring to remove the car.  I never really saw it being used that day   :shruggy:

Ghoste

No sticker on the one I saw and based on the rest of the crap he was sporting and the town where I live, I'm going to say it was mostly for poser points.

Its a Tow Point, my friend has one on his Camaro that he tracks regularly, I believe it's part of SCCA regulations.

Some photos I took of it at the track.

I was gonna joke about it being used to tow when they broke down...guess I was right

Its like when they leave the white numbers on their cars.   "Oooo this guy takes his honda to the track! It must be fasttt!" only problem is it usually says something like 16.5 or 15.8. They think because they put a bigger tail pipe on it they will run 12's.

you only need a cage if your going faster than a certain point or for a certain class of racing (which again is usually based on the speed capabile of achieving

They puttem on if the cars are to low to hook onto when they break down to prevent damage to the bumpers. just about all the ricers gottem. But here I am with no hooks and I could care less about my bumbers bc its a race car and the bumbers are going to get ripped off some how anyway. :nana:
