It's all just money to the studios.  XXX dollars in, XXXXX dollars out.

They're wrecking 3 or 4 Chargers per movie because it'll help make more money than wrecking none.  They're not wrecking 30 or 40 per movie because it won't help them make more money than 3 or 4.

actually those are not bad looking wheels imo.

Don't forget the GM tranny and the Ford 9" rearend in it too.

The drivetrain swapping was nothing personal against Mopars.  They put 350 chevys in all their Ford prop cars too.  They just wanted everything the same.

Honestly I don't blame them.  It makes sense in their situation.

I think it was a great decision, putting all the same engines in the cars.  Makes keeping parts in stock so much easier.  And nothing is cheaper to work on than a Chevy 350 engine.

I kinda like the 'spray bombed' look. It's prolly what I'll do to the 74 once I get it back on the road until I can afford a real paint job. Makes it look mean.

Don't like the wheels either. As I've said before, don't have much of a problem with big wheels on an old car, but they have to be just the right style and the car has to have just the right stance for them to work. These don't.

I wonder if in a few years because of the recent crop of primered chargers in these crappy wreck a charger movies like death proof and the upcomming Mike Musto ripoff - and now this one, Kids wont be wanting primer chargers instead of orange ones...  :shruggy:

It's funny......Today, it seems the meaningless movies dealing with Fast cars seem to be looked at as Jokes...Yet, the term "Greatest" is used to describe some of the most iconic car movies..."Vanishing point"...If you actually WATCH the movie and try to make sense of it, then the movie for most doesn't seem to have the same "Feeling"....How bout DMCL? Here's a movie about two dudes that seem to aimlessly race across the country in a Bright Yellow '69 Charger....And here we have the F&F with A 1970 Charger, yet everybody I talk to doens't seem to give it the same praise as these earlier movies.....Hmmm, I wonder if Vin Diesel will have to pass on and these movies will have to sit dormant for another 20 years before they are considered to be "Iconic"?

BTW: Get rid of the "pimp" wheels...Paint I can deal with...Where's the wheels that was on it in the first one?

Don't forget the Dukes of Hazzard.

Say what you will about Dukes - The driving in that series is sensational. Forget the jumps, the way the whipped that big b-body around dirt roads was awesome!

... and that's where the praise for these earlier movies comes from. Most of them aren't great movies, they're great car movies. The plot doesn't mean shit. It's the car & the driving that is what gets car people excited.

You can't do that with Fast & Furious ... 90% of the driving is either either blue screen or CGI - and that's why they suck, or at least don't get the same positive comments as the older movies do.

There's no substitute for real cars & real driving.

CGI is overused but it's great when used just right.  IMHO car chase movies could be better than ever before with CGI if we had the right people doing the job.
