ONE WEEK INTO MAKING MY HEADLIGHT DOORS FIT PROPERLY AND FUNCTION USING 70 CHARGER 500 SINGLE ELECTRIC MOTOR. I DESIGNED MY OWN PIVOT ADJUSTERS AND MADE PIVOT OUT OF METAL! NEXT TIME AROUND IT WILL BE MUCH EASIER . KIT IS A GREAT DEAL FOR 2200 , IT WILL TAKE A GREAT DEAL OF BRAIN-STORMING TO MAKE WORK .

Sounds good that you're moving ahead, I hope you will take some photos & post them if you can. There are a good number of people, including myself, on here converting some Chargers. I have a '70 headlight motor I got last year for next to nothing, but I have to have it tested. I'd like to see someone's set up at some point.

Good luck, Bob

using the 500 motor takes work . Simply put the daytona doors move only 30 degrees and the charger 500 moves about twice that much , around 60 degrees.

daytonalo

I hope god blessed you with a great deal of patience and fab skills!

Everything but actually spraying the car ,my buddy is a first class painter, He paints all my race boats and resto projects. Cant wait to see what you do with it . I have hard core guys thru my shop every day and they would never attempt what I'm doing

daytonalo

Here are pictures of what is needed to make stinger kit operational.

daytonalo

More daytona headlight pictures. I had to make my own pivots out of steel.

daytonalo

More pics and also anybody need factory style deck lid hinges on the cheap.

daytonalo

AS FOR THE TRUNK HINGES I MADE THEM OUT OF 1" SQUARE TUBE AND THEY LOOK LIKE FACTORY. MUST RE-USE YOUR TORSION ROD BRACKET OFF OLD HINGES. I OPTED NOT TO WELD C CHANNEL TO DECK LID IN FAVOR OF A THREADED PLATE THAT IS INSTALLED ON TH E INSIDE OF THE DECK LID AND BOLT HINGES THROUGH C CHANNEL ONTO DECK LID FOR ADJUSTABILITY IN ANY DIRECTION. ANYONE INTERESTED?-------------LARRY

I want to say that what I did on this nose should only be done on a clone , after all you could go out and spend 10 k and wait 6 mos or go with stinger kit . I'm not implying this is right for everyone . All of mods will not be seen when assembled . I'm using the stock charger 500 single electric motor modified to only rotate around 30 degrees

THE CHARGER PUNK

hw come u already have the shopped decklid but ur rear window isnt modified as the original daytonas?-MATT

daytonalo

The plug was on then off then on then off , its called mock up !

daytonalo

Did you notice in the backdrop of pic # 4 is window plug?

Thank you ,I orig was going to use my 500 motor but decided against it because of age and I wanted something cheap and available. I'm using a headlight motor off a 1990 Chrysler and it uses the same size shaft as orig , so I grabbed four of them from my Buddy's yard. The 500 motor had stops built into it where the later model does not . It does not use limit switch so they must use something in line to limit the length of time voltage gets applied to motor. Have any suggestions. Larry

What do you think of stinger kit ? Will post new pix of completed nose including griil frame made out of 3/4 w - 1/8 h flat stock , the stinger grill frame is fiberglass. How did you make your headlights work ?

Rene , You need to come over and see this nose in person , it will give you an idea on which direction to go in regards to headlight piviots . I live in voorhees N.J 08043   609-315-2230 Larry

Artie' s a great guy , I opted not to use those pivots with the way I used one motor and the need for adjustability the fiberglass pivots wont last ten minutes Larry
