Hi

Got a problem with autometer oil pressure I think.

It reads 0 like other gauges at first

here you can see that the oil is pegged and its not even connected???

and needle is at 75 when the ignition is off and battery disconnected, when the engine ran the needle was pegged at max.

Seriously confused here!  Hitman149 installed those and other gauges seems to work fine.

I have Autometers Gauges with no issues.

Was it ever working at one point with no problems or is this a first time use?

I bought the car like this, don't now if it was working when Hitman149 installed those , but if there's no current(battery disconnected) and the gauge wont go to 0, then something must be wrong, right? I will check that tomorrow.

True - If the gauge is reading with no juice to it - there's a problem.  Maybe hooking it back up to the battery will reset it again?

On a somewhat related topic, my autometer tach needle stays at the place the car is idling when I turn off the engine.

What's up with that?

Mine too - it's the only gauge that does that.

The Speedo actually shoots up to 80 everytime you turn it on and then relaxes back to 0 right away - it's pretty cool.

some tachs do not have an automatic return back to 0...      I know some Sunpro tachs do but I am not sure about AutoMeters...       If you oil gauge is pegged with no power to it that is pretty weird...     usually when a gauge pegs it is grounding somewhere...   but it takes power for the movement to function....

with everything disconnected it shouldnt read 75...    no way...    should be around 0...      is there any adjustment on the gauge ?

I would double check the wiring to the oil press gauge. Make sure it is hooked up correctly. Or it could be the signal wire that goes out to the sending unit is grounded. Remove that wire at the gauge, meaning, dont connect it to anything, just apply power to the gauge and see what it reads. Then ground the wire at the gauge, and apply power to the gauge, then see what it reads. With the signal wire open, un grounded, the gauge should read zero, with the wire grounded it should read full scale.

Fixed it! Took the oil gauge apart and put the needle facing 0 when the ignition is turned on, oil pressure reads 50 cold and middle of 25 and 50 when warm. While I was at it, I fixed the emergence brake light to.

Thanks for the replay's everyone!

Does the gas gauge looks normal?  When I turn the ignition on, other gauge needles go to the first line but gas gauge needle goes to middle of an E! :shruggy:
