Does anyone have pics of the restoration of this car? I would really like to see how this one gets resurrected.

For some reason the VINs don't melt. My friends old 68 Super Bee had the dash and roof buckled, steering column plus everything else melted, but the keys and VIN were ok. Sorry, pics on a different computer.

They should make the entire car out of the VIN metal in that case.

I believe they are made out of stainless steel.

Speaking of Canadian sold Daytonas, does anybody here know the whereabouts of a green with white stripe daytona 440 SE with a mod-top vinyl roof from British Columbia? The car was bought from a body shop auction way back in 1978 in Coquitlam, BC. It sat for many years unrestored and missing the nose cone and wing assembly. Automatic car with low miles but it was quite rough. The owners' name was Rick H.

Heat treating would be quickly cooling something that is red hot. That didn't happen. The dipping process restored the metal to it's normal state. It is as workable as it was before the fire.

"Heat Treated" was not really the right phrase but you get the idea.  

I'm just saying the whole car has been flamed until the sheetmetal sagged and then cooled down again.  I would think that is gonna affect the metallurgy one way or another.  I imagine it would be sort of like if you heated the whole thing to the sagging point with an oxy torch and then let it air cool.  (Perhaps it would come out more flexible than original?) 

The issue strikes me sort of like the subject of using weaker alloy replacement panels from Asia.  It's not a big deal to do it in some portions of the car, but when you build the whole entire unibody that way it demands more consideration.  Likewise doing some heating & cooling of the sheetmetal would not be a big deal on portions of the car, but I'm not sold on the safety of an entire body like this.

What kind of dip did they do to fix this?  I don't get it.
