Does anyone have any idea if anyone makes the bushing that holds the spring back on the parking brake assembly (bushing 4-25-10)? Please look at pic.

Not that I've been able to find. You may want to try McMaster, MSC Direct or Graingers for a nylon bushing similar in size that you can modify to accomodate the cable.

Ever notice how many of those spring loaded arms have been bent on these mechanisms (like yours) to make up for the bushing being worn out? Lots of them.

I'm going to make a run to the hardware store one of these days to see if I can't find a plastic grommet that will work for $.10 rather than $12 plus shipping. I wonder if a rubber grommet would work?

CDN72SE

Yeah I hear you about the shipping, I find with these projects things tend to balance out a bit. Sometimes you get a deal on things and sometimes you spend more than you want.

Try to find a split collar or lock collar with the right size I. D. hole to match the diameter of the rod. That way you just loosen the two Allen bolts slid the collar where you want it & tighten the bolts down. Ace Hardware, MacMaster-Carr, & Grainger should have them.

Thanks for the tip and explanation 69rtse4spd.

I managed to get a rubber grommet to work. You can also use a split lock washer by bending it open, slipping it over between the spring and stop and then closing it back up. Not as pretty but it works.
