well i left work early [2:30pm], got the maps, the soda pop, phone and then left home [3:30] to get to the autoparts store (with car trailer in tow) to get a trailer light connector so that I can be legal [left 4:30 from Topeka].  I then drove 110 miles to independence, mo. with money in hand to purchase a 1977 2wd dodge truck, reg. cab/long bed.  i found the truck on the list under parts for sale / wanted... which is odd, but sometimes happens, so i thought what the heck, it may be worth the trip.

I show up to the guys house at 6:15pm.  he lives on an extremely narrow road, so i had to park 1/4 block down from his house with the trailer.  I go up and take a gander at the truck.  Saw two gas caps.. and was like wth? this aint a half ton.  Found out it was a 3/4T with a dana 60, two gas tanks, CRUISE CONTROL, a/c, a "tachometer", 440/727, hardly any dings (only one i found was right front fender and its negligible), a lil rust in drivers side floorboard (easy patch job) and some rust in pass. side rocker (again easy patch job).  Started the truck up.. a lil cold blooded, but idled good after warming up.. dual exhaust, tow hitch, almost brand spanking new tires (goodyears to boot), all the lights work, THE DAMN TACHOMETER EVEN WORKS!!!

Asked the guy if he would take $700 for it... he said yes (I screamed hallelujah inside) and quickly got the title, a bill of sale, and loaded it up on the trailer to drive 110 miles back to my house in Kansas (and i pulled it all the way back with my lil' D100 318 TBI p'up who officially hates me for having to haul this big ol' truck).

And here are the pictures:

thanks so much for the kind words. plans?  well.. just to get it roadworthy.  have to fix a leak on the drivers side exhaust manifold, rebuild the carburetor, fix the hole in the drivers side floorboard.  I am thinking I will need to sink another $500 minimum to get this puppy where I want it to be, and then... it will be my tow vehicle, fart around truck.. or just a truck to do big a55 burnouts in the driveway :D

thanks.. looked under the engine today to try and identify a leak (trans front pump seal, methinks)... spied the balancer on the engine.. yep.. you guessed, a forged crank motor!  holy shnikes!  i drove it around the block (with only front brakes mind you.. and those are weak at best) and the old thermoquad up top was doing well.  she actually has some marbles.. surprised me.

I need to fix the rear brake lines... and I think there is a vacuum leak to the booster or the booster itself is bad as there is too much play in the pedal, but overall, I am very pleased.

Try adjusting the rear brakes.I always had to manually adjust my brakes on my 3/4 ton and 1 ton trucks.I guess I just don't back up fast enough.
