Specifiaclly carry on stuff.  I'm wondering what some of you are finding to be the best for carry on.  I have been using an old attache case that was fine in it's day but it's worn out and a PITA anyway.  I want something that can easily house my laptop and a variety of other electronics (cellphone, camera, ipod, chargers for all of them etc.) and files and do it all securely.

You may find some to choose from at a luggage store however I bought mine at Office Depot or Staples or some place like that.

I bought it about 8 years ago for around $90.00 CAD and holds my laptop and everything else that you mentioned above.  Pockets with velcro flaps, zippered pouches etc.....really organized and easy to travel with but it can get heavy!   :eek2:

I've had their 'sky train' http://www.redoxx.com/Airline-Carry-On-Luggage/Sky-Train/91019/100/Product for 3 years, chasing around the deserts and throwing it into everything from C-17's and Chinooks and C-130's to 777's and worst of all, the dreaded Boeing 757 which has the smallest overhead compartments of anything I can remember. It's still in perfect shape, and still has the lifetime warranty...I've stuffed my life into it and never damaged anything nor failed to get it stuffed into the overhead. The zippers are large enough to cable-lock to the strap hardware, too.

What do you know about the so called "security certified" bags that allow you through the inspection points at the airports without having to dig the laptop out of it.  Or is that just some myth.

I have a friend who works for TSA. There is no free lunch. They have no obligation to anything, and arguing with them is like mud-wrestling a pig; you just get dirty and the pig enjoys it.

myth

All electronic must be removed and placed in a seperate tub.

I use to have TSA locks on my bags so I could still lock them and the tsa people just rip the zipper apart to look in the bag.

Most of my co-workers like the computer backpacks
