Alright I got everything installed and now it wont start. I put my cousin in charge of swapping out the spark plug wires and I wonder if it may be that. Do any of you have a diagram on what cylinder is what on a 440? Its the only thing I can think that is causing the problem. The car just cranks and cranks but something is off. Could timing be so far off that the car wont even fully start up?
   Any suggestions or thoughts?

thanks

I pointed to two old drunks sitting across the bar from us and told my friend
"That's us in 10 years".
He said "That's a mirror, dip-shit!

make sure that the rotor is in the proper firing position also. on mopar, your in or out. if nothing was changed but the wires and dist. and the wires are all in proper pos, take the cap off and check the rotor direction. then lift the dist and go 180 out and drop it back in. good luck

Thanks for the diagram 68GLwannabe. As I suspected to of the wires were off. I got her started. NOW for the next question. Flames shot out of my carb. As I was getting ready to spray the extinguisher it stopped flaming. So I attempted to start her again. She keeps an idle while i give it gas. But right before it cuts off the carb makes a squirting noise and looks like it shoots fuel in the air. Any ideas on this?!?!

thanks guys

sounds like its a little out of time. loosen the hold down bolt and rotate the dist slowly to bring it in time. as its running it should clean up and run smooth one way and get worse the other way.

Alright, I started to rotate the distributor slowly clockwise. I did it probably an inch at a time and started it up each time. It kept getting better and better. I ended up shutting the car off because I started to hear what sounded like a "knocking" getting louder and louder. Does anyone know what this "knocking" sound may be? Perhaps the timing is advanced a little too much?? I'm not sure. Let me know your thoughts gentlemen.
