Hey guys, just got an old pepsi machine in a trade for some car parts. It gets ice cold, but I can't figure out how anything works on it as far as how to set up the coin area and if it has a way to bypass the coin mechanism. It's a choice vend model cbv141. Thanks!!

How old are we talking here? I did a brief google search on the model number but didn't turn up any info. Have a pic? New ones have digital innards that you can program. Older ones have other means like sets of dip switches that choose options. Not all will vend for nothing but you can set them for super cheap like a nickel. Sometimes a cheat sheet is stuck on the inside of the unit near the coin counter.

I personally would love to have one of the old single glass door ones that held bottles in it.  :drool5:

It is just like this (not nearly as nice), only with pepsi decals. Early 70's. I see the small black deals that have 5 cents, 10 cents, and 25 cents. Not sure how to set them. Thanks for the help so far guys. I will get a pic of soon.

I have that same machine...no free dispense setting. I set mine for a nickle and just leave a cup of them on top.
Open the door, you will see the coin Assembly, open the top part by releasing the to clips on each side, inside you will see the dip switches, put both #1 switches up...the rest down. Should then be set for 5 cents.

captnsim, I can't thank you enough for helping me. I found the small dip switches I think. I had 6 of them numbered 1 - 6, I put the #1 up and rest down. Still nothing. I am not sure if its set up for cans or bottles. When I try to load cans and close the door it keeps kicking change out (makes a clicking noise) should the cans be all the way back in the slots or should they be touching the back of the door whn closed? I also have the 3 small black switches on the outside of the change dispenser labeled 5, 10, and 25 cents each. Any idea where those should be pointed (up, or down). Again, thank you very much!!

Tempting, but with what I have in the queue right now the wife might have a small cow.  :eek2:  All in due time though.

Sounds like its got other problems if it is constantly trying to kick out change. Need to check out the control logic PCB possibly.

Mine did something like than when I first got it. Turned out the little door\flap on the bottom of the coin slot (inside on the main door) was broken. It had come loose and out of adjustment, causing it to hit the coin sorting thing inside when closing the main door...which broke the little door/flap. This made the machine send all the money inserted down the return slot, making it not work.
The flap broke really easy too, never knew I did it as the main door is kinda heavy and the flap is made of pot metal.
Worked before I loaded it up, so figured it was something I had done.
I inserted coins directly into the coin sorter and it dispensed a can so I knew that was working...
Dip switch 5 should be up as well I think. My switches are labeled 1, 2, 3, 4 then 1, 2. Both 1's are up.
Sorry for all the generic names for the parts.
Hope this helps.

Thanks again captnsim, I will see if the coin return flap is broken. Allen, you may end up with one cheap, as my patience is wearing thin on this one!!!  I got it from a guy in St. Charles as part of a trade on my 73 Road Runner.
