I love richard and they all three are great  , that is the best show on tv  !!   you just to take them all with a grain of  salt

Here in England the Charger is a massive car, in fact most American cars are, even Mustangs are considered a large ish car over here, one of the reasons I had to get rid of my Charger was because I was fed up with trying to find a garage big enough to put it, by the way Hammond's old 69 is now a General Lee : )

I grew up in europe in the 60's and 70's..and in europe nice cars have been and are for the wealthy. its a mindset that still exists. all the Top Gear 'great cars' are 150 grand or more in price.

I love american cars because while the lack engineering finesse, anyone could afford to buy a moon rocket.

american cars are about the average joe living the dream. you can buy a pretty badassed new car for under 40 grand. it is attainable. some 350,000 dollar mercedes isnt.

The "Truth" for me is that UK/European cars are junk that is from my experience and owning way too many you are welcome to your opinion I have a question though for anyone who say's American car's are no good, handle like crap etc WHY DO YOU OWN A CHARGER? espicially since European cars are so "superior"? why don't you sell your car to someone who truely appreciates it for what it is?

I'm from Europe, and my daily driver is french.. I'll level with you, it'll corner the shit out of my charger.. There, I said it... Now, having said that, must I now go sell my charger or am I allowed to keep it because I didn't buy it for it's cornering capabilities?

I think this is blown all out of proportion:

Firstly, it is a British show - so of course they're not going to dump on their cars (however, if you really listen to them, you will hear sarcasted digs at their own cars)
Clarkson has a massive collection of cars - not all of them British. Hence the entertainment value of the show more than its content
UK cars are junk. The middle to low market european cars are junk. The high end European cars are just over priced (admittedly they are built better, but even they get old and fall apart)
America and even Australia make good middle cost cars FOR THE AVERAGE PERSON. As was said, not everyone can afford a $300k plus mercedes or bmw.

All in all, who would pay 6 or 7 figures on a ferrari and not even get a radio  The only car I enjoyed driving from that part of the country was my ford escort.

They dumped on the CTS for having poor handling and cheap 'plasticy' interior,

from what i gather watching TG, they are stating that yanks perception of luxury was 'big', where europeans luxury means 'exclusivity' and presumably non-plastic coverings, such as leather.

I like the TG show, but they also dump on australia's cars (mostly for being US owned), until the monaro was released as a Vauxhall in the UK, then it was 'extremely fun' car. if they like the monaro, they'd love our Ford Falcon, it's much better, unfortunately it's australia only. You should see how much they cheat against the german and australian top gear shows. they'll do the same if they ever appear on top gear usa.
