Hi
I have a Ignition switch problem I think, need help with what to do next. Car ran fine go to start it one day it cranks but no fire , checked no spark. Tested MSD buy their recommendations  in the paper work, had a lot of fire showing it was working, again checked for spark while trying to start car nothing. While checking for spark I but my remote start button on (working by myself) the first time I touched it the car started. With the key switch in the on position, starts every time with the remote but will not start with the key switch.  :brickwall:What do I do next Thank you It's a 69 Charger 440 all MSD ignition, Thanks again for the help

Check your connection under the column where the switch plugs in.

The ignition switch has a different circuit when starting compared to running.  I think it's labeled IGN1 and IGN2 on the back.  If you are running an MSD then both of these wires are usually tied together and feed the box.  If not - the IGN1 (i think) is green and it goes through the ballast resistor where IGN2 (brown) only works when the key is pushed all the way over to the start position.  I may have mixed up the colors.

Does the car start and run when you jump it from the starter relay?  (that essential bypasses the IGN2 wiring)

Remote? - that sounds like it too would run on the IGN1 circuit.

Yes with the key in the on potion then I jump from battery to the starter relay on the starter (with a remote switch button) starts and runs every time  Thanks Long Island RT

In most installations there are double blue wires on one side of the ballast resistor and a blue/brown combo on the other side.

If it will start with the key in RUN position the blue wire is getting power but if it won't run in the START position the brown wire isn't getting power. First place to check is the firewall bulkhead disconnect, trace the brown wire on one side of the ballast to the disconnect and check the terminals for cleanliness.
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.

Thank you for the help, I found a piece of original wire The brown at the ignition switch connecter then was spiced to a new wire running to the MSD. Looked real bad wiggled it and it worked. I replaces the old wire and has worked several time :) Thanks again.
