ECM wires no juice

The 2 wires that come from the orange box and go to the bottom of the distrubtor, one is black with a white line and a brown wire and there is no power to either wire with the key on. Does anyone have the diagram for the MP box as which wires go where :brickwall: :RantExplode: I am not sure if i got wires screwed up or not.

 I failed wireing 101.

those wires to dist doesn't have power... they sense magnetic variations from reluctor/pick up coil to trig the spark to coil from module

here is a 72 engine harness diagram I made long time ago but will work to hook any ECU system.

you simply needs to not hook the secondary resistance wire ( high resistance source )

Hi Nacho, by your diagram I should have power to the coil wire going to the distributor. I have the black wire pictured supplying power to the negative side of the coil along with the green and yellow wire attached to the same spot. On the positive side of the coil is the blue wire going into the engine wiring harness that looks like it goes to the ballast resistor. When I turn the key on there is power to both sides of the coil but no spark in the coil wire.
With mine the green and yellow wire goes into the module and the black wire goes to a power source.  I have tried 3 coils and I am guessing at least one should have worked. What I don't understand is I put 17K on the car with no problem. Since it quit I probably screwed it up myself.

It's possible that you have no input signal to the ECM from the distributor. Check your bushings and check the clearance between the distributor signal rotor and the pickup coil, for starters.

YEP I did that and it was set at 8 thousands and I cleaned all the pickup points.

Next check to see that your signal coil isn't open-circuit or grounded out. A forum search will probably turn up a resistance value for the pickup coil too.

The pickup coil is the magnetic piece in the distributor  ?????  Now when I put the distributor in the car in 1996 the magnetic pull was quite strong and I had to get a brass feeler gauge to set the gap. I did notice the magnetic pull wasn't very strong compared to when it was new.  The car started running like it was loading up and firing down the exhaust and got progressively  worse to the point that it wouldn't start at all. If the coil was failing gradually that would explain the running like crap before it quit altogether. I am real glad it didn't quit on the road as I would have been doomed.

not  wanting to hijack  anything , think i mentioned my adventure with the mopar set up , in another thread but not sure ))))
put a MP electronic set up on !! cranked it up  , car ran awesome  parked it up in the garage  forget now either next day or a week later ! would not  fire !!  checked every thing  even went as far as to unwrap all the harness that i had spliced into checking every thing !!  knew i could not be wrong  , as the motor ran awesome before being parked ! but what else could it be all new parts & less that 20 miles on them !
switched back to points set up !  fired right up ! ::)
turned out to be the magnetic pick up in the distributor !! , removed the original one to the distributor , & it fell to bits !!!! but it was ok when setting the air gap  :scratchchin: :shruggy:

Damn, mine just took a long time to do what yours did instantly.  Can you get a magnetic pickup through MP as I didn't find one or I missed it?

Thanks man, :notworthy:  And thanks to all that helped  I have been doing  crash work for 37 years but I just don't grasp wires and electrical stuff, never did. :rotz:
