 Hello Charger guys!!
I only have one question, Will a 1973 Dodge Charger gas tank fitt and read correctly on a 1974?
I am in desperate need of a reasonbly priced tank to get my Charger going again. You see  I am on a fixed income (disability) and this is my dream car.  I bought her 6 years ago when my mom passed away and it is my only means of transport. I have found other tanks online but they all cost over 200.00 dolars. But I found a new 73 tank for 140.00.  Ijust need to know if it will work right before I get it. :shruggy: Thanks for the help guys.

Thanks for the swift replies guys,
Even with the differences in venting will the 73 tank work and fit properly in the 74? Or must I modify it in some way?

it will fit, but the venting lines issue will need to be addressed.  hopefully nacho can chime in here and say what is the real difference.  why not just clean yours out and coat it with "red-kote" gas tank liner?

what you said RD. Not a big deal though.

All 74 gas tanks are in $260-40 rate ( I got it at Carlisle 2008 on $220 or so, from Kramer ). They were already in that rate on those days

What do I need to do to address the venting lines issue? Also If I decide to to "red Kote" it do I need to cut the top of the tank and brush the coat of "red kote" in or just pour the "red kote" in and swish it around?

Guys, Maybe  I was not clear on the question. If  I decide to attempt using "red kote", DO I NEED TO CUT THE TOP OF THE TANK OFF AND BRUSH THE "RED KOTE" IN,OR DO I JUST POUR THE "RED KOTE" INTO THE TANK AND SWISH IT AROUND???  And RD, As far as the venting lines, Can  I just plug them off? I noticed on some pics that the 74 tank has only one on top of the tank and the 73 tank appears to have 4 along the top edge. So with them on the 73 tank being along the top edge, Will they leak gas if the tank is full if they are not capped off? Also DO I need to leave one of them uncapped so that the tank can vent properly or can I just get a vented gas cap?
