Won't start

Went to start my '74 the other day, first time since I brought it home last friday, and nothing. Not even a click. Tried the signals and radio and they worked, so there was some power. Figured since it had been sitting, the battery was weak, so I pulled it to give it a charge. While under the hood, I noticed below the voltage regulator there was yellow, slightly tacky crap on the firewall. It was dried so I don't think it just happened. Removed the regulator and the back side was totally empty, right down to the circuit board. Car seemed fine when I drove it off the trailer and into the garage. Like everything else, it's the original. Ordered a new regulator from my local dealer and it should be here today. Anything else I need to be looking for?

Did you check to be sure its all the way into park? If so ,try moving the shifter through neutral while holding the key. Could be the neutral safety switch fritz on ya.

Started before without the belt buckled. Put the charged battery in and fired right off. Picked up the new voltage regulator from the dealer and installed it. Damn, it's all chrome with no lettering, but made in the good ole' USA and came in a Mopar box.

so it was practically the same to buy a STANDARD regulator OR A TRANSPO and say it's Mopar unit ( but cheaper )
