ive seen cars that roll in complete and by the time they get stripped down, to sand blasting and removing all the putty, this is what is left. but they usually dont have a frams or floorboards left either. if you feel froggy, jump on it.

You're basically building a car around a VIN tag. If you've got the ability, desire, and resources, then go for it. I wouldn't even consider it myself, but then again, I have none of those 3 previously mentioned items.....

Ya but then you are still out buying every other part that is missing in the car.  Dash guages, seats, trim, tail lights, etc... that all adds up FAST!

My question is whos the moron that cut that car up to fix up another car?  That car looks 10 times better than 2 of my cars.  If I had that car I would never had cut it up to start with.  Go find a 318 car to cut up......Geez!

Lennard

The shop owner i bought it from said that about 7 years ago a guy from Phoenix called him if he could come over and cut out a piece to repair his own Charger.  He told me that he didn't realize back then the Charger was worth quite some $$ and let the guy do his thing with a sawzall. :eek2:

At least what you see is what you get here....

I've seen guys get screwed alot worse because the bought a much more expensive car that turned out ot be a pile of crap. If you are skilled enough and have the space and needed tools to tackle a job like this by yourself, then i'd say it looks harder then it might actually be.

It is coing to cost you alot more to buy/find all the pieces that are missing from the interior and so on....

NOS is nice, turbo's are neat, but when it comes to Mopars, there's no need to cheat...

It'll cost you more but you will know what you have when its done right? I am however bias as my car was a basket case and is almost back to life so good luck with whatever route you choose.

That's mine also, i bought it about 5 years ago on ebay without a drive train. It is a plain Jane 383 bondo car that i'm going to make into a street/strip car.
That was the plan to do with my '69 when i bought it but didn't want to mess up a real R/T.

Btw, thanks for all the advise about the parts car guys.

It's true that plenty of rustbuckets turn out worse after the blasting.  But those rustbuckets are still complete car projects and this thing is not.  With this thing you're starting with only 1/4th or 1/5th of the car.

I would make a racecar out of it.  Or maybe get a totally rusty (but COMPLETE) donor car.  I would not try to start with that unibody and build a new whole car out of it with swapmeet and repro parts.

I dont know if I would touch it but honestly if you didnt mind chopping up the 68 to build the R/T, that might be your cheapest route. Its not perfect but youd have a complete car. Personally  I'd probably just part out whats left of the R/T but If I had the resources then I might try to redo it. There is a lot of repop metal now that might make it easier than it seems.
