I just picked up my second 3rd gen Charger on friday and was wondering if someone here just might have researched some numbers in the past on the build. It's a '74 Rallye 440 with JL6 Aztec gold paint and Aztec cloth interior. I know it's 1 of 208 for a 440 Rallye, but I am searching for how many Aztecs there were out of 208.

That's an awesome score! I didn't even know there were Rallye Aztecs. Both of mine were 318-ers. Too bad they opted for that big bench instead of buckets.

Sorry, I can't help with numbers.

Life isn't Father Knows Best anymore, it's a kick in the face on a saturday night with a steel toed grip kodiak work boot and a trip to the hospital all bloodied and bashed.....for reconstructive surgery. But, what doesn't kill us, makes us stronger, right?

Ghoste

Was it considered a separate "Aztec" version like the Plymouth or a "White Hat" or was it just the name of the paint color and interior trim?

maybe this place can help you.

I am on that board and asked. No one heard of it on a Rallye, only the SE. Response on numbers was maybe 1 or 2. Kinda like a green car with red interior. Not for everyones tastes.

I believe it was the same option like the Plymouth and you got both, the paint and interior. Guess I need the '74 sales brochure to see if it's listed.

The Aztec package was like the Western Sport Special. Not a separate model, just a package. It's sister Plymouth was the Sundance Satellite (Code A77). Both were available with JL6 or EW1 paint and the wacky white/gold/black interior.

I don't recall if the Charger had an A code for Aztec.

Since you have a Lynch Rd. car, a lot of codes won't show up on the tag. Note the lack of A57, Rallye model. Got a broadcast sheet?

mikepmcs

L6 was the paint code for Aztec if that helps anything.

Pulled a crumpled and brittle sheet from the back seat. It is in bad shape and not complete. Got the pieces in a book to try and flatten it out.

cool car,  does any one know if the floormats in the interior shot were factory options or dealer installed options. i have the same floormats in my 73 SE and often wondered if that were the case.

The best part about it being a U code hard top is you dont need to have an A57 code on the tag to know it's a Rallye. The same goes for L code cars too.
WANTED: NOS or excellent condition 72-74 4 speed shifter boot for bench or centre armrest car, part number 3467755. It's a rubber boot that looks like it's sewn up leather.

That's a very nice car!
You may want to look under the carpet on the drivers side floor board for another broadcast sheet.

Don't know about the floormats but they look aftermarket. I found my 2nd broadcast sheet (enough to make it all there) under the carpet on the passenger-side floorboard. It was all covered in factory undercoat that had appparently been sprayed there before the carpet went in.  Soaked it in parts cleaner in a vat for a few hours and carefully brushed away the undercoat and found the very legible broadcast sheet to still be intact even after 40 years! Went ahead and laminated in plastic both sheets and can read  all of it when combined with the missing part from the back of my rear seat.

Vey nice score , by the way. I am liking the 3rd gens more and  more and yours is very nice!!

Thanks everyone, for the comments. Had a problem the other day, wouldn't start, but I charged the battery and all is good. The originality went out the door also. The original voltage regulator went bye-bye. The entire backside melted and ran down the firewall. Picked up a new mopar piece from the dealer this morning. All chrome body with no lettering, but made in the USA and came in a mopar box. I was hoping it would at least be black. Also found a wet spot on the back corner of the carb so I got a seal or something bad. Other than being loud and no tag yet, all is good in Charger land.

 I can't imagine there's more than 5 ever made.
Had a 74 Rallye A-57 car with the same aztec gold paint and seat inserts myself.  it was also basically an SE [ brougham door panels, lower rocker moldings, etc , but no opera window covering]
It was a factory 318, 4 speed pistol grip car with buckets and console, 10 hole wheels, rear fader and defrost, etc.
Should have kept it, oh well  :'(
I figured that one was about 1 of 105 with the engine/ tranny combo -- then add in the aztec pkg for more rarity ....

Nice car you have !  Keep it as is, you'll never see another  :yesnod:

Do you still have this car?

Nacho-RT74

That car appeared being sold around. Member is not anymore around here or the 3rd gen charger board ( or anywhere else around ).

He make a light "restoring" job on it, with fresh paint. It came out nice!

Loved so much that didn't keep it for long time LOL. But sure he enjoyed the refreshing job and was proud of it!

I think the car was not sold just once but couple of times more after he owned. Recently a thread was posted here about that car being sold on some website... again
