Title says it all but the temperature gauge doesn't show the motor is overheating it stays about mid range after warming up until the water boils. I have been working a lot and have been unable to spend a lot of time on it but here is what I have figured out so far.

-Over flow container does bring fluid back in the system after cooling so pressure is good so I assume no leaks.
-Coolant has no debris and is not an abnormal color so I am guessing that's good
-System was tested (and burbed?) no air (or Exhaust)
-Coolant is full
-Cap is good
-Radiator is not obstructed

All I can figure at this point is that the temperature gauge must be malfunctioning and not showing the motor as hot. There are only three more things I can think of Thermostat, fan, and water pump. Anybody have any other thoughts or advice?

Based on that you say the temp gauge reads normal, Id say have your coolant flushed out properly(and properly disposed of). This is based on your coolant/water ratio being off. Im guessing the coolant got low at some point so someone just put straight water in there

Thanks guys! I did everything and could not find the problem. I gave up and took it to the shop and they found out it was a transmission issue. Thanks again.

My nephew had a Neon and the radiator core went bad allowing transmission fluid to enter the coolant.
He needed a new radiator and a coolant flush and all was well again.

According to the shop the transmission was shot and was showing average wear and tear. The strange things is there were hunks of metal broken off inside, I guess they don't make them like they used too. :eyes:
