You guys that run the open 6 pick hood scoops, how do you cope with rain and bugs that go into the scoop? I just purchased a 6 pack hood for my charger and it's open.
Thanks

The bugs are not really a problem, and the Bee has not been driven in the rain for a long time.

Thanks, it's the rain that would bother me if I were to get stuck in a rain storm. Don't need any more electrical issues, knock on wood.

I agree, my hood is open too, and have often thought what would happen if I ran into a downpour.  So far I have not.

T/A as a daily driver for over 5 years, no garage. We average 13 feet of rain here a year & I never had a problem.

My Coronets a daily driver with a open scoop, living in Washington, I have driven in the rain many times and never have had any water or electical issues.

And as for bugs, your Charger likes bugs, they have lots of protein in them. (although the air filter probably stops a lot of them)

terrible one

With normal conditions/air filter I can't see rain being a problem ever. I've "steam cleaned" an engine by dumping a bottle of water down the carb . . . works great! It takes more water than you would think to hydrolock. I wouldn't worry about it. :Twocents:

Thanks all for the responses.

You could take some thick black plastic or similar and make covers for the holes when needed for rain or parking outside when caught in a storm.   I made a set for my R/T and kept them under the seat.  Not too hard to do and used a twist (sorta propeller looking) as a securing tab.  Don't have them anymore to take a pic of but they worked good.

I've seen folks make plugs out of hunks of foam.

  I don't do anything.  :shruggy:
