I love these cars and I've heard they're strong performers . . . This is the first one I've ever seen listed for sale in the U.S. Be something else to own one, but I think I'll stick with my 1971 for now - that and I likely couldn't afford this car. Love the hemi six cylinder!

Ghoste

They are cool cars, it'll be interesting to see what it bids to.

chargerman67

Interesting. But ours look a lot better.

That E37 is a very low build count and very collectable car, the value of that car out here is in the NZ$60-90k ballpark IF it is an original car with correct tags, block etc and not a rebody or bondo disaster.
They do not come up very often.
My old R/T was an E49 clone and could do a 14.1, this out of a 35year old carb'd straight 6 , wouldve done a high 13 with a little more work on it. Neat car.
other pic is one from Chrysler R/T 6pk clubs NZ Nationals 2009

i guess it's what you've grown up with. it's different if you've owned one yourself. Hard to believe we used to buy these things for a few hundred bucks and thrash them into the ground. hey, they were cheap and plentiful.

Charger440RDN

They do look a hell of a lot better than the "NEW" Chargers, I would take one of these any day over the 2010 model

SFRT

that car is 100% badassed. would looooooove to own it.

Gotta love a '69

Ghoste

I've always liked them for some reason.

doctor4766

Why wouldn't you?
They are Chrysler after all and they were freakin quick in their triple webered form.
Faster than a lot of V8's in fact.

I have to agree   :yesnod:

Of course the Dodge looks better it is the original  :2thumbs: the Aussy Charger sounds awful at WOT it wouldn't surprise me if this car returns to Australia they have quite a following in Aus and NZ

doctor4766

Yeah maybe they haven't got the grunty sound in 6 cylinder form but they fairly pi$$ along with those triples.
We did also have the E44 318, E55 340 & E57 360 available too in some of the models but no factory big blocks :(

been talking to some friends in Australia about this car and they are all losing their minds. the Bathurst features, such as the drop tank and dual fuel caps and webers are unbelievably rare and apparentley a car of this calibre hasnt been up for sale down there for quite a long time. They are telling me this is a 100,000.00 car down there.

It's looks like a sweetheart of a car - up to $21K with three days to go and reserve is not met, so somebody wants some pretty serious coinage for it.

I don't care much for the front grill, but I love the offset hood scoop and I'd love a six cylinder car like that!

I think I read that they can run in the 13s in the quarter mile on today's better tires, making it a car capable of beating quite a few, if not most, of our V8 cars in stock form.

Sounds like it can really haul butt.

From Valiant.org:
Hey Charger! describes the evolution of the Chrysler Valiant Charger, starting with the first Valiant sedan imports and the Pacer (an early coupe version of the Valiant) before concentrating on the Charger itself. Most attention is paid to the Charger, in particular the racing and high-performance versions, with extensive writing on the racing record. In its quickest form, this six-cylinder car, able to hold four in comfort, managed 0-60 in just over six seconds, with a 14.4 second quarter-mile time; on modern tires, it apparently can go to the low 13s.

Yes, that is true they can get into the low 13's with better tires I'd be interested to know what kind of time they would put up with a 440? more power but also heavier  :scratchchin: it's too bad the biggest v8 offered in aussy for Chrysler's was the 360 the 6 pack Hemi probably had more power? and no doubt weighed much less.

Mad Mike the fisherman from Nelson drove up to Meremere about 10hrs drive with a ferry crossing in his Val Charger with a worked 440 in it and then did consistent 12.3's before driving home. Good straight line speed but with a 440 in an A body they are never going to handle the twisty's very well.

Yeah, probably would be too, they just dont come up that often. I heard of an E49 with race pedigree going for around $300k NZD after the owner died, just goes to show if it hits someones hot button then they will get it if they have the cash

Funny to hear a Charger called a "A Body" I guess putting a 440 in one isn't as easy as i thought? after all there's the RHD issue could make for some header/manifold issues?
