Bought myself a daily driver

Time to put the flame suit on.....I bought this on September 23rd and I figured I'd finally post it. I posted it on Facebook a few days ago and got a lot of flack from the Charger guys I have on there so I'm a bit weary of posting it here but who cares. Yes I bought a Ford and it dosen't bug me one bit. It's a 1990 Mustang 5.0L 5spd. Black, grey interior, sunroof. The last owner (about my age) bought it from a guy who did a lot of work to it....

'93 5.0L engine with 90,000km's (have the bill for $1,800)
2003 Mach 1 black 6 way power leather seats
Black carpet
JVC head unit with ipod adapter and Phoenix Gold speakers
Maxxis snow tires on LX 10 holes (on the car now) as well as Bridgestone Potenza summer tires on Pony wheels (in the garage)
BBK Short throw shifter
Energy Suspension Transmission Mounts
Energy Suspension Motor Mounts
Centerforce Dual friction clutch
Promotion Powertrain's adjustable clutch cable and quadrant
BBK X-Pipe w/cats
Flowmaster Cat back 2.5" into 3" chrome exhaust pipes with Flowmaster 50 series mufflers
8.8 rear end out of a 2003 Mach 1 with a new Posi track and carrier and 3.55 gears
Tokico shocks and struts
K&N Cold air intake
BBK shorty headers
MSD wires

I paid $2,400 Canadian for it which is considered pretty damn cheap around here. The kid told me the tranny was stiff and wasn't in the best shape and that's why it was going for that price. My dad drove it and he said the tranny isn't stiff. It dosen't want to go into 2nd gear right away on fast shifts once in a while but it's fine if you make sure it's in 2nd gear when you release the clutch. The kid thought the tranny was going bad because of that but my dad said his '90 5.0L is the exact same way. It's apperentley a factory Ford flaw so I was pretty happy with that. It's my daily driver until winter hits and then me and my dad will be swapping. I'll be driving the Durango since I work 25 minutes from home and my dad works 3 minutes. Of course these things are notouriously light in the rearend so I decided to put 2 of the Pony wheels and tires in the back to weight it down a bit and it does awesome in the rain. I do take it pretty easy though. Now that I got a good reliable daily driver, it's time to start on the Charger

cody for your tranny problem it could be the forks are damaged in the t-5 tranny (too many power shifts lol) or double check your adjustable shift stop bolts in the bbk shifter  :2thumbs:

I love it!!!  I have had 2 85' Mustang GT's and they were alot of fun.   It sounds like bad synchros in your tranny...but I have been wrong before.  :)

My first new car was a 88 Mustang LX 5.0 5 speed.  Loved it!!  I had the same trans problem when I put larger tires on it.  The synchro was off.

By the way, I'm a closet "American" car buyer.  I currently have a new F150 on my driveway.  Liked the Dodge, but thought the Ford offered more for less right now.   :nana:

So much for Cody. Pretty soon he'll be selling the '69 to pay for engine upgrades on the 5.0L and then he'll sell the Duster to pay for a roll cage, racing trans, etc.

By the way, "slack" on FB is a good thing. I think you meant flack. ;)

Just 6T9 CHGR

My '99 GT is somewhat notchy getting into 2nd gear as well....nice score for all those upgrades done to the car already.

I thought the same thing. But when it comes down to it, he is still young, and we all were his age at one time. And we all did crazy things like that (selling cars to fund another and regreting it). All I can say if this is what makes him happy right now, go for it............................................... Just ship me your Charger :D

And good luck with the Mustang. I love the Fox body Mustangs. Wish I could find one. There getting pretty rare around here.

Nice one Cody.  They are a nice looking car, that go quick with just a few mods. Just about bought a 86 T-Top 5.0 a couple weeks ago, but decided I should use the cash for the Bee.  :shruggy:

Just to prove I'm not selling the Charger or Duster to upgrade this thing more, I had a guy at work today offer me $15,000 for the Charger.  I told him sorry but no so he said he'd buy the Duster and offered $6,000. Again...I said no :)

I think you should take him up on it for the Charger. Then get another Charger with that money, 15K would get a NICE small block Charger.

Call me crazy but I'd rather have my project big block '69 rather than a nice driving small block '69. Not because of the engines but because I've had the car since I was 6 and it's the only Charger I want to restore right now..... :)

Cody, learn these four little words: SHOW ME THE MONEY!!!

Sorry man, it looks like someone was bullshitting you.

I certainly would have taken a $15,000 offer for your Charger if it was a real offer!!  But of course it's not my car, and I'm not you.

Think about it, why would someone pay 15K for your Charger when cheaper ones (even R/T's) are available for less money - that need less work in most cases.

Nice car, the second gear synchros are a common problems on these, you can baby it and slowly shift into second to make it last a little longer.
